If you really did take over some radio station, how did you get away with it?

I am a Cameo fanantic. Thanks!

That was Cameo at it's best with Wayne Cooper a'hollerin' and a'screamin'. I'd like to see him battle it out with Prince in the hollerin' department. lol

I'd like to hear that too! I saw Cameo in concert back in the day. He sounded just as good live. Amazing voice. worship

What's that, a radio station from back in the day? I was very influenced by the radio stations back in the day back when the DJs had their own personality and their own personality, taste, and sense of humor was reflected by the songs they used to play. I could always tune in at any time of the day and before I would ever hear a DJ do any talking, I had a pretty good idea who was on the air at the time because of the type of songs I was hearing. And it worked both ways, when I would tune in and hear less lively songs being played all in a row, I'd be like....."Oh no, such and such DJ is on the air right now. Let me flip the dial and come back later". lol

Nowadays, it's just an emotionless, bland computer that plays the songs that were programmed hours or days earlier by someone. Every overlap is the same also. I used to be able to distinguish who was on the air just by the style of overlapping I was hearing. Some had longer overlaps and some had shorter overlaps. It was just a matter of the DJ's style. There's no individual style these days though. Just the same thing 24/7.

I truly respected that game because it included a killer soundtrack featuring what REAL R&B/funk is supposed to be. The guys who designed the game are purists with great taste...

and YES, the soundtrack also featured a badass DJ (played by an actor) with the personality you're describing...

the whole soundtrack was like a homage to the golden days of 80s radio and I loved the game for that

your podcast also has this vibe

Just reading the tracklist in the link, I can see somebody knows what they are doing by the order in which the songs are listed. The tempos from song to song are similar and then the mood gets faster and then switches to another mood a little slower. It's how it should be, creating an overall mood rather than just playing songs at random all over the place with different genres and tempos that don't match. That's why when I listen to funk, I want to hear funk only and when I listen to rock, I want to hear rock only. The only time I listen to the two together, is when I'm switching from mood to mood.

The same goes for slow jams. When I listen to them, I listen to slow jams only. If I do play a slow jam during a fast set, I usually just play two, three, or maybe four at the most at one time and go back to the fast stuff. I like plenty of slows jams too. I've got a slow jam set in the first link of my signature line that would make your dick drip. lol
