If Janet Did A Prince Cover...

As most of her fans know Janet is a huge Prince fan. In an interview back in 1986 I believe she said she loved Soft and Wet. If she decided to do a cover what song would suit her style and voice? I would love to hear her do Little Red Corvette, Dirty Mind or go out of her vocal comfort zone and do Purple Rain. What do you guys think?

Hey baby! Don't get me in here actin' silly now! You're not taping this are you... ????

I could see her covering I Wish U Heaven because she def has the voice for it (soft and delicate).

DMSR would be good too. It's a rock jam and she's shown us with Black Cat that she can dish out a rock track quite effortlessly.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

i agree hotgritz, also she would sound awesome doing With You! Janets vocals are so underrated, she sounds great when she opens up like on I get lonley the way she performed it live on the rosie o'donnell show and on what about, living in a world and even her cover of one more chance.

"Got A Broken Heart Again" from Dirty Mind. Very fragile song to fit her very sweet and equally as fragile approach to singing. smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....the perfect Prince song for Janet is "Shhh." Everything about that song is a perfect fit for Janet.

Can't u c her tying up some guy on stage and singing it to him.

When Doves Cry, Kiss, Soft & Wet, I Would Die For You, I Wanna Be Your Lover or Little Red Corvette. I hear similar elements in those songs to some of Janet's, so I feel that they'd complement her style really well.

I always felt that "100 MPH" sounded like something Janet could pull off.

her tracks with Jesse Johnson will probably be the closet you gonna get.

nod the Jesse Johnson-produced "French Blue" is Janet's closest Prince-sounding track

French Blue is actually a blend of Fast Girls (played backwards) & Pretty Boy

That is a good choice.

Prince's early vocal style matches hers a lot. It's Gonna Be Lonely, Sexy Dancer, In Love

I think I read somewhere she was hoping to do an album of Brazilian style music next. I wonder what a Samba version of The Ball would sound like? I'm sure it would be pretty awesome if done well cool

What if Prince joined Janet onstage and sang Love Will Never Do, the way it was originally supposed to happen! Wishful thinking I know... biggrin

I beg to differ, many Janet songs have a Prince inspiration if you listen very, very carefully. I even hear it in a song like Runaway.

Another one is If It Takes All Night.

"You Can Be Mine" screams of 80's Prince. How about the Control album period. Very Inspired by the Purple Yoda. razz

If she was to cover him, "Soft & Wet" would be the obvious choice.
