Rod Stewart for two-year Las Vegas residency

Rod Stewart has announced that he's inked a deal for a two-year concert residency at Las Vegas hotel Caesars Palace.

His new stage show 'Rod Stewart: The Hits' will premiere at the resort's Colosseum on August 24 with tickets going on sale from May 15.

Promoter AEG Live has also promised that the Colosseum is being redesigned so that fans will never be seated more than 120 feet away from the stage. The venue has previously been home to Celine Dion, Elton John and Cher's Las Vegas stage shows.

Discussing his planned setlist, Stewart, who has notched more than a dozen US top 10 hits, teased that popular tracks from throughout his multi-decade career will be represented.

"I'll sing everything from the early '70s, maybe before, all the way through to what I'm doing now. Maybe just even the odd American Songbook tune," Stewart said.

He added: "Some of the old hits you will hear, ladies and gentlemen, will be, working backwards - 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?', 'Maggie May', 'You Wear It Well', 'Hot Legs', 'Tonight's The Night', 'You're In My Heart'. It goes on and on and on. We give the people what they want. That's what I believe in."

Good for him.I think these lengthy residency deals are a good thing for older artists who are probably tired of going from city to city, living out of suitcases.

I completely agree. Rod may not be what he once was, but he had a great career and a very unique voice and he could rock his ass off back in the day. I love his 70's and 80's music.
