If you wanna hear who really had that sound that Prince gets when he does guitar/voice "unplugged" stuff live and on "The Truth," etc. check out this album from the mid seventies by Louden Wainwright III called "A Live One." Its in the folk section. That and Joni (and the blues tradition) is basically what Prince is relaying.
