Anyone have Common's Electric Circus???

My brutha bought it yesterday along with The Roots and Talib Kweli new LPs, I was listening 2 it 2day and I'm like "Hmmm this is aight" actualy it grew in me after afew listens and I've realized that, well the concept of the whole LP could've been stronger than his previous LPs(Like Water 4 Chocolate and the debut LP) musicaly its the BEST ONE from him.

Overall, I don't mind listening to this LP. Hell, I'm so glad to know that there're still REAL RAW RAPPERS who deliever their message without messing with the mainstream bullshit.

It's a good album. I love Jimmy Was a Rock Star!! That song is killer. The song with Prince on Keys is actually pretty boring...bored

I have this album. I actually bought it at an in-store appearance here in Chicago. I am not a huge hip hop fan, but I love true hip hop artists like Common and The Roots, and I wanted to support him (Great guy in person, by the way). Anywho, I listened to the whole thing and really couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll pick it up again and try to listen to it. Maybe, it'll grow on me, too.

Heh, that's the one song I didn't dig (Jimi was a rock star).

The rest of the album is great... it took me a few listens before I really got it, it's less accessible than Like Water for Chocolate. But it is brilliant stuff. Thank FUCK for people like Common and the Roots is all I can say.

This album is a very good effort and i wish more hip hop artists would take a chance like he did. Matter of fact it was my favorite hip hop album of 2002.

I was very surprised by the way this record turned out.
The sound is very ovewhelming at times and the instrumentation is excellent. I love the creepy feel/vibe of the cd. And yes Jimi is a great song!

I am also surprised about this album

I knew it was gonna b a smart album from the record cover alone!

We all know that rappers 2day dont know shit about concepts and stuff, other than a "few" mentionables like Missy, Jay Z HAD a concept but i dunno what happened..i cant think of no more really.

Electric Circus is a very very good albm with some flaws "I Got A Right Ta" heaven 4bid. It didnt really start takin off until "Electric Wire Hustl Flower". Then it really Shoots the moon on "New Wave". And it ends perfectly. I always think of the sky when i listen 2 this album. The sound is alive, i feel the vision.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I like it. The music is interesting. There are one or two songs that I didn't dig. And, *69 is a tad disappointing. But over all it's a good effort.

However, I'd like to get my money back on the Roots album. I like one full song on Phrenology, and that's Break You Off.

it's Aight I prefer His Older stuff better.I like His Musical Direction but the Lyrical Content ain't really changed much for the better or for the worse just kinda there. The Roots:they make there money off Touring they Peaked already as far as Sales go back in 99 IMHO.a just there kind of Album.as for Talib: very Talented Cat but He is missing His Boy Mos Def to balance Him out IMHO.

I love this album!it´s full of life & kinda
spaced out at times.he really stretches out
& blends all types of music.
it´s soulful & twisted.
Erykah Badu is wicked in "Jimi was a rockstar".
"Come close"with Mary J Blige is beautiful.
so is "Heaven somewhere"" with Jill Scott & Bilal.
"Star 69" with Prince on keys & guitar is
awsome.
The last minute of the song, the beat changes 2 a
classic Linn drummachine.it´s sooo funky
& I just wish that Prince would make his next album
sounding like this.

Seriously. For one, they use "n*gga" way too much for my taste. And while some of the music is rather interesting in spots, it just doesn't hold my attention for the full album.

I'm not that crazy about The Roots and the rest of the Philly artists becoz to me they all have one sound, they're not different than each other which is boring 2 to tell you the truth. when will somebody make a powerful hip-hop LP like Lauryn Hill's again?? Different sound with solid grooves yet you feel like you're fimiliar with it.

Back 2 brotha Common?? Whats his REAL name ya'lll??

This album goes bigger and bigger everytime I listen to it. Could be a classic in ten years from now, just like "3 feet high and rising" or "3 years, 5 months and 2 days...". And Jimmy Was A Rockstar is a KILLER. Anyway, did anybody notice the very Linn-Drum-Machine-One-Minute-End of "Star 69"? Sounds like it was taken from an unreleased Vault-Track of the '82 Period...
