"What's My Name"?....Eh I guess...It has that same summery vibe to it. Prefer the latter.

Her solo work is soooo mediocre. But she was working them "Hula hoop" dance moves though.

Soooooooo pathetic. You can smell the desperation on Nicole. A duet with 50's washed up ass? Imitating Rihanna? Did she forget that she's actually a better singer than Rihanna? I think this qualifies as an example of MEGA-FAIL.

Not really desperation on her part, its an attempt to appeal to a desperate AMerican Market and another angle by the american side of her label. She already has debuted at Number One in the UK with her last single "dont hold your breath" and in the Top 5 with her album, and has moved 100,000+ of the record so far in 3 weeks, so i think america is clueless on marketing, 50 cent is not even on the album overseas because you dont need that shit to appeal there, here apparently that lame stuff is what it takes, surpirsed Lil Wayne didnt get tossed in

Well, Lil Wayne on your record will actually move units. Its the clueless execs that think putting "Fiddy" on your song will help sell it. Well, she wanted to be a pop star - this is part of what you have to do to be one in America. This song sucks, btw. Its sucks badly.

a midtempo R&B song with a guest rapper on it.How original confused

It's sad that this is the "formula" for having a hit record these days.

Is it me or when you shut your eyes in the beginning you get confused like this is a Ri-Cole or Ni-Hanna mash up...WTF man...come on now....She can do much better than this....and I saw like four other different video referances in this one video. What a shame.

Identity

She's almost begging for this project to get shelved.

Record labels still haven't figured out that loading up tracks with ubiquitous guest rappers (the Nicki Minjas, Drakes and Lil Waynes of the world) does not guarantee chart success. I'm so sick of the trend. confused

The problem isn't the formula; for example "Runaway" by Mary J. Blige and Ludacris is an excellent song. Its deep and has a message and a good melody and hook. The problem is the desperation. Pop star rule #5 - DO NOT EVER imitate your competition. That's an instant L. Ask Christina how that works out. lol Nicole is making a hell of a lot of career mistakes. She's trying to do the dance club diva thing (too soon; techno is for when you are on your way out or to do sparsely). She is imitating an inferior artist's style. Rihanna is actually Caribbean; Nicole was born in Hawaii and grew up in Kentucky. Lil Wayne would actually be a better choice as a guest rapper than 50 Cent, since he is still musically relevant, unlike 50 Cent, who brings instant fail to a track. She needs better management and better career advice than what she's getting. Instead of this b.s. she did, she could have had her producers build a track around the beginning of that little steel drum part on DeBarge's "Rhythm Of The Night", kept the outfits she wore in the video, changed the setting to something less urban-looking and more islandish, sang in her own style and had Drake or Luda come in and spit a verse and she would have had a pop hit that wasn't imitating her competition, the suits would have their familiarity and their guest rapper and they could have called it a day. It could still be weak but at least it would be hers and not someone else's style getting showcased.

Well I think regardless of what rapper it would be a bad move. The USA has lost it's hold on marketing because no one in the states thinks outside the box anymore. Lol Wayne has been on plenty of tracks that have been lame and tanked also so he gets no cred from me at all. I mean he ruined a good Amerie track the new Kelly Rowland track is weak and the jlo song with him is useless. But what I don't get is why the USA can't at least try something new, her song "don't hold your breath" debuted number one there and the album was top 10, the uk is looking towards the song with Sting"powers out" as the next single why is the USA trying rent-a-rapper still? That shit is dead collabos are over at this point and yet it's marketed as if it were a new thing. As for this album being shelved there is no plans to release it here it's strictly overseas where she is promoting it.

With or without 50 Cent, that song sounds like a Rihanna ripoff and that is NOT a good thing. Its just not a good song, period. No amount of marketing is going to change that. Its forgettable material AT BEST.
