KATE BUSH on BBC Radio 4

Interesting interview with Kate Bush on BBC Radio 4 this evening. She sounded nice and answered the questions well, interesting to hear about her schedule and production processes etc.

They played a few songs from the album, basically she had re-recorded pretty much all the vocals and used a lower register so from the clips you could hear the difference, it also sounds sparser and more jazzy.

She said she used analogue equipment to record it because she said it sounded much warmer.

One quirky thing is that she said she uses Bonemeal (for the garden) to get inspiration. One day she inadvertantly left some on the piano and she came up with good song ideas so she sometimes uses that to inspire her now by putting it on the piano!

She said shes working on new tracks but gave no clue of a possible release.

The Directors Cut is out on May 16th.

Would like Prince to be do a similar interview one day, would be a real insight.

I liked when she said that her recording schedule is Monday to Friday, otherwise she would never get anything done. lol

Nice interview, there is another interview on R2 on May 9th on Ken Bruce show.

I agree, she is an artist in the true sense of the word. She really is someone who records for herself, not to have a hit.

There are a couple of KB threads floating around this forum, this is one http://prince.org/msg/8/355932, not sure where the other one is.

The more I hear of this new(ish) album the more excited I am. But judging by what she said on the R4 interview, it does not look like we will get an album of new material this year. lol

I think its quite bold of her to rerecord the songs in a lower register, not sure how fans will take that. However, i like the jazzy additions and think you can probably respect them side by side with the originals.

The Sensual World (song) for me is pretty much perfect anyway, so not sure how it can be improved upon, lets see!

I feel the same, it is hard to imagine the original songs being any better. The new version of Deeper Understanding took a few days to sink in with me, but now it's like it was almost always that way.

It's interesting that Kate considers it to be very much a new album, and not a companion piece.

Time will tell, I look forward to it.

Lovely interview! So glad she's just still active. Interviewer was cool and her answers just better! The clips all sounded great! Never Be Mine sounds 10x better.

That's my girl. biggrin What a lovely human being she is, and owner of the world's sexiest speaking voice, too! lol

I wish she wouldn't be so hard on herself, there's very little wrong with her catalogue.
