Raphael Saadiq's new single "Good Man"---yay or nay? I heard this song on our local Quiet Storm radio station yesterday and I like it alot.Has the CD been released yet?

Hmm thanks for letting me know Amazon had the snippets up. Just listened to them and I think this album will grow on me more than the previous one. It's a bit more rock oriented yes, but not so much retro 60's sounding like "The Way I See It". Not saying that the previous album was bad, it's just that I had to be in a particular mood to listen to it...it wasn't an album that I could put in at any given moment. So far on this album, I'm absolutely loving "Good Man" and "Stone Rollin'". Don't really care for "Radio" much.
I really like the last part of the album. Movin' Down The Line, Good Man and The Answer are all capturing the essence of seventies soul in a beautiful way. Buy it, if only for these 3 songs!! Aka Mister T at moquake.com | |

I like the song. I havent played it back alot, but it is a song I wouldnt turn off had it come on the radio. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Definitely yay! Both the single and its video are sublime. The new album, Stone Rollin' is better than his last, The Way I See It, which was a great album. Stone Rollin' has more of a diverse 60's to 70's throwback sound that makes it superior. It's more rock-influenced and it doesn't have him playing that whole soul man image that he was rocking with his last album. You can even hear him getting back to his Instant Vintage bag with a couple of cuts, notably the hidden Larry Graham cut "The Perfect Storm". I'll be at the wrecka stow getting this on next Tuesday. yeah, I mean his R&B days were great
but it is great to see him try other kinds of music and get noticed by a lot more people
and this clip on Leno from a few months ago does not sound retro shit to me
