Lil B Announces I'm Gay Album Title
http://live.drjays.com/in...bum-title/
Love or hate his music, Lil B sure does have everyone’s attention right now. The rapper (born Brandon McCartney) hit the stage at the Coachella music festival in California this weekend to announce his upcoming album will be titled I’m Gay. “I’m gonna do the most controversial thing in hip-hop,” the “Based God” told the packed audience. “Ya’ll heard it first. And I’mma just show you that words don’t mean sh*t. I’ma make an album called I’m Gay, right. “I’ma tell you why I’m the first person to do it in hip-hop and why you’re the first people to know my reasons,” he went on. “I’m just gonna tell you. So many people be worried about what people mean and definitions of words and sh*t. Now I like women, I love women, you feel me? But within yourselves, no matter what you do, it doesn’t matter, it’s like live life. You’ve only got one life to live. Be happy.” Lil B famously once tweeted that if Kanye West didn’t acknowledge him via Twitter and work with him he’d “fu*k him in the ass” when he saw him. He later told Vlad TV: “I could wear the tiniest pink shirt, I could have a hard hat on with the tiny pants going ‘YMCA’, but I’m not gay. I respect the gay community, you can do whatever you want it’s no problem because it’s all about pushing love and positivity. And if you’re a gay man that’s more girls for me. You can take the guy butt and I’ll take the girl butt.”

I don't know why Lil B is trying to be or sound like he's clever or innovative or something. Have any of you ever heard him talk? He sounds like a mumbling idiot. And if you don't know his music, then to give you an idea - he makes music with Soulja Boy. That's the kind of music he makes. So don't read this article not knowing who he is, wondering if he's some kind of intellectual MC who is coming up with some kind of good idea not thought of before. All he is, is a bad rapper.

Despite his crudeness, I can't help but applaud the effort. Regardless if the motive is selfish promotion. Space for sale...

If a rapper really wants to shock people he should do something almost no rappers do. Like learn to sing, or play an instrument, or write music.

You must be new to hip hop.

i never heard of this lil b... why do rappers these days keep calling themselves 'lil? i mean, grow up! people used to call themselves king or queen. or even ice, or grand master. now it's all diminutive. that's what our culture's come down to.
and words do mean a lot. like when the person who's beating up a gay person is going 'hey fag, i hate you'. words are used to define things, or create some interpretation.

he's just one of those bad ass high schoolers that think they're all that and throwing around oppressive terms as a synonym for shit

It seems to me that Lil B fans are primary hipsters & are not rap fans.So will probably love the title.

But what do you think he is trying to accomplish? Just trying to get his name in the press?
From the statement, he says that he is just trying to say that words don't mean shit. But words do have definitions, hence they mean what they mean.
And why pick "gay?" If words don't mean anything, he could've said "I'm white."
It just seems so senseless and random.
And what do you wanna bet that when the actual album comes out, that he re-thinks the title?
Anyways...I've probably given this piece of news way more attention than it deserves as Silverchild said.

you could also say little esther (phillips) then... the thing is, when you had littles richard and esther, it wasn't a trend for EVERYONE ELSE to do it. the sybolism was different... and the funny thing is, little richard actually IS gay, so this lil b has got nuthin' on penniman.
little richard had style... these dudes (and women) calling themselves 'lil today, they all go around yelling and woofing like an angry mob... their one-liners don't even have the cleverness of little richard's. so not some kid has to come up with "i'm naming my album 'i'm gay' because nothing has meaning anymore"?
i'm just tired of the nihilistic culture of today's music. people have called it post-modern, where nothing is sacred, but i'm calling it nihilistic. it's distructive to art. where's the p.r. camps to make sure these people don't act like fools? hip hop used to be about style, whether it was NWA, mc hammer or public enemy. they had media camps to regulate. whether or not we liked what they were doing, they had p.r. camps putting out stories which people felt compelled to follow then buy the records.
these ringtone artists come out by themselves and consistently put their feet in their mouths with this nihilistic crap. you never hear their 'managers' coming out and shutting it down. we've gotten too much into individualism when it comes to art. it's no longer a community effort, since anybody can make a youtube hit now. we don't even have modern hip hop crews anymore. we don't have the bomb squad's production contingent, the dungeon family, the juice crew, wu tang, etc...
i support the kids doing their thing, but people need to grow up and take responsibility for their art.
and let lil b know that when somebody starts talkin' 'bout his mama, he cain't throw the first punch. because words don't have meaning anymore, right?
