Lady Gaga - "Judas"

2nd single. Produced by RedOne.

Clips have leaked but they're getting pulled down left and right.

Initial thoughts - verse melody seems dull, chorus melody however is great! Excellent electronic breakdown. No interest in the lyrics, trying to hard to be controversial. Some religious leaders will get offended, which was most likely the entire point. As an anti-theist I could not care less about any biblical references unless they are slamming it all as being bullshit lol

It's much better than "born this way" though. And it'll undoubtedly be a hit, served up with a fresh batch of not-so-outrageous-unless-you're-really-really-conservative antics.

My verdict of the whole song: it sounds too much like "Bad Romance", but not in a good way (lyrics were indicepherable in that song as well) and it seems like she just went with whatever flow she felt comfortable with. RedOne's productions don't give me what I need at all. neutral Off to a real, real bad start, Ms. Germanotta.

Sometimes RedOne borrows his own beats (see The Fame), but this track doesn't sound akin to Bad Romance to me other than the stomping aspect of the beat and the fact she doesn't sing in her traditional register in like any songs he does, lol.

Just Dance

Money Honey

Boys Boys Boys

All 3 have the same backbeat on the track. Doesn't mean all 3 songs sound exactly the same (though Money Honey and Boys Boys Boys are very, very similar).

btw, I approve. I like this track better than Born This Way. Only thing I would gripe about, if I could, is that the production doesn't seem too different than BTW. In that regard, I am not much attracted to Red One's tendency of doing wall of sound type productions. Let some air up in those beats.

But I love Judas, especially the dub breakdown.

I could definitely see why you would say that. It does have a similar vibe but then it sounds different after that Judas chant in the beginning of the song. This song has the potential to become very annoying after a while but i'm gonna give it some time to digest. It's kinda quirky and catchy at the same time upon the first listen.

It really doesn't matter how good the song is really. She's the hottest thing in the Pop world right now so they'll bite whatever she feeds them. I'm sure the video will also help make this song a hit too. It will be what everyone's talking about. Didn't Lauriann say something about the video debuting around Easter? That's only going to add more fuel to the fire lol

I just hope she hasn't run out of ideas....

it's ok shrug and this song does have a very europop feel to it. Maybe it will grow on me once I hear it more often on the radio...

this is not the kind of song you want to hear if you have a headache though lol

Fuck it ladies & gents... i do NOT like GaGa and i have talked smack on her before this is true. But hey i like the song, yeah i like it lurking

When i like a song i like it, and she has made a good song imo, idk it's like an old risque song Prince or Madonna or Bowie would have done back in the day. It's not original or groundbreaking but in this stale pop world it's a cool song to have.

Any who i am sure i will be raped & pillaged for this but w/e lol

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Meh just your typical thump thump dancefloor beat. It will be a hit, but its not really deserving of any accolades.

this is true, as i was saying before i am not a GaGa fan but i enjoyed the song, and it's rare to have a groundbreaking song cause just about everything has been done.

Yeah, exactly. A lot of the times, I don't like "groundbreaking" shit anymore anyway. Just sounds too try-hard.

I prefer artists like LG, Prince, etc who are not groundbreaking at all - rather they use contemporary tools and themes creatively. Some people might not dig LG's aesthetic (again, baffles me on Prince.org how small-minded some intensely hating people are), but she's still doing it better than most.

Edit: By the haters, I mean people who say they were glad she fell off the piano and she shoulda hit her head, etc. It makes no sense.

I didnt say a song needs to be groundbreaking nor do I think its "good music" its just another dancefloor beat that can be sliced and diced into 12 other same beat songs on the dancefloor. People will scream cause the only way they will know its different than everything else is her little "a a ah a a a ah" bad romance thing at the beginning.

They're the same as people who think Shelby J doesn't belong onstage with Prince because she's bald. And there are music-lovers who hate Prince because he wears makeup and straightens his hair. If people don't like someone, they can, and usually do, pull any silly excuse out of the air as justification. I'd chalk it up to human nature, but there's an anonymous-person-from-the-internet aspect to it too.

time flies.

I still don't understand the purpose. Of course, if you question those people then you are being hyphy and oversensitive.

I don't bash music or any artists in general simply cuz it not being for me does not tarnish their ostensible talent.
