There's some stuff in here, but some of it isn't just released "new". A few are from last year though. http://prince.org/msg/8/353119
You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Chris Turner is a soul singer from Oakland. He's about to release his debut album later this year and based on this song it's going to be pretty good.
This is the best boogie joint I've heard in a while. It's from Amalia's debut album Art Slave (produced by Opolopo) released earlier this month. "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

vainandy said: If that's what you're looking for, you'll be looking a looooong time honey. Lol....well I'm looking for three different genres...either dance music, r&b music that's good...or some "new funk". Hope that is expansive enough. I'm going to listen to a couple of these posts Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I wonder what happened to the Dam-Funk/SteveArrington projeckt?
Dam and Prince are the only artists capable of providing any classic styles that I lust 4.
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

Paisley, since you're a "boogie" freak like me, you might love this,,,,,
Hardly new though, since it came in 2008.

homeboy switched up his whole sound, i tell you!!! he ain't doin' hip hop no more, it looks like. he went from straight hip hop to doing half and half... now he's just singing. he sounds good though. i actually like when he sings. i like his stuff when he sings in spanish. it's cool. he actually looks a little like mongo santamaria in that video... it's the afro-latino blood!

Yeah, the whole album is a big ode to Roger Troutman.

Oooh This is a cut right here!
There needs to be more threads like this when releases like this are made. All the complaints about no funk-boogie coming out still....Don't worry about it not being made until 2008 it could have been made in 1862, as long as it's good its good! Straight Jacket Funk Affair

This sounds like some Cheryl Lynn or D-Train era songs. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. Silly people who don't think there's good new music out there. Stop being lazy and bitter that you are no longer eighteen.
To work your p*ssy, seek out Tony Kasper, Bernard Badi...r Remix 2).

Soul album of the year, hands down. No matter what else will be released in 2011, this Daptone gem will be hard to beat.
