Wow,,,I Didn't Know Gwen Guthrie Went All The Way Back! Supposedly, this is her debut recording.

I like that Charme cut "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

That first video is in the "Non Standard Motown" thread. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Gwen was out for a good minute. Everybody used to always have to work to get ahead. They just didn't go out and pursue a career only to get defeated when they're pushed for background work (reason why many a frustrating musician these days go the easy route - Idol, i.e. Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, James Durbin, David Cook; all these guys had "careers" but wanted to be stars). Back then, singers who wanted to make it DID whatever they could to do it and they loved it. Gwen always seemed humble. She started out singing for people like Aretha and was writing for artists even before she got with Charme and later went the solo route.
