Happy birthday, indeed!
I've been listening to a lot of Gil, recently. As well as the music, and his soulful voice, what really stands out are the lyrics. Here's someone who not only had something to say about the world around, but also the ability to really craft a lyric. Powerful stuff.

yes indeed... he is an (inter)national treasure. 'racetrack in france' is one of my favourite tracks. he's got many gems... 'we beg your pardon', 'H2O-gate blues', 'we almost lost detroit', message to the messengers'... i wish i was at the show(s) where he opened for STEVIE WONDER. | |
