The Cure Albums

CURE FANS!

What are your favorite albums?

today after i got off work i listened to Kiss Kiss Me & Pornography back to back the albums are... so dark, yet soothing and full of great musicianship, Kiss me is full of so many amazing track's that range from tragic, to romantic to inspired and some even have sax and horns love it! While pornography had that dark, eerie sound

Although going to have to be cliche hear and say Disintegration is my fav\

I mean Plain Song, Pictures Of You, Prayers For Rain, Fascination Street, Cold, last Dance, Lullaby, Love Song are all in my tops by them

Three Imaginary boys is good for it's beginning but it's nowhere near the best,

Wish is also a good, Open, High, Friday I'm In Love good stuff

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

I like Faith OK, but nothing on it is as good as "Charlotte Sometimes" for me. That song is a masterpiece. music

3. The Head on the Door

4. Pornography

5. Seventeen Seconds

I like all of their albums to some degree, with perhaps The Cure being my least favorite. The production on it didn't serve them well - hardly any keyboards, and the vocals way too prominent.

I think Wild Mood Swings is their most unfairly dissed album - it has some incredible material. The problem was the sequencing and track selection. Drop a few of the weaker tracks, add a couple b-sides that were superior, and resequence it, and I think it's a very strong record.

^^ The Glove's Blue Sunshine would be an easy #5 on my list if it could be counted as a Cure album.

Wild Mood Swings starts off terribly, but there are indeed good songs in the center of it. I listened to the S/T album perhaps once and then sold it. Didn't even bother with the last release. My tastes are just not compatible with what their sound has evolved into. I'm no longer interested in hearing anything by them post Bloodflowers.

oh wow, i think the strongest track on WMS is the opener, "Want". It's a classic Cure song IMHO.

I want the sky to fall in, i want lightning and thunder... blood instead of rain. I want the world to make me wonder, want to walk on water, take a trip to the moon.... give me all this, and give me it soon

Think i need to put it on now and give it another listen smile

It has been awhile since I last played Wild Mood Swings so I just looked again at the tracklisting and you are right. "Want" and "Club America" are great. The songs in the middle are the ones that are weakest is what I had thought, not the other way around. My memory is not so good anymore. grandpa

hehe yeah there are some stinkers on there. But that album had some killer b-sides... especially "A Pink Dream" which in my opinion would have made a great lead single. I did a revamped version of WMS a while back, I need to dig it out and give it a whirl.

But I agree with you, the quality of their post-Bloodflowers work has generally been uneven - - at best. I did like the last album much better than "The Cure" though.

I saw them the last time they played Madison Square Garden and the new songs did nothing for me. Not that live versions are an accurate representation of the new album, I know. Sadly, I just have no desire to hear what they have to say right now. I'm in a different place. They are in a different place. We had great times together, true, but our relationship is over.

I really like the first album. I would have loved a few more like it before they entered their depressive and drugged up phase.

I can't believe I wrote Japanese Dreams instead of Japanese Whispers!

At any rate, I actually think their last album, 4:13 Dream, might be my #6. I might give Pornography another spin soon, but I've always found it lacking. shrug

I don't listen to them much anymore, and when I do hear them I don't feel much compulsion to listen further, but they were definitely one of my favourites at one point and they are still part of my musical vocabulary.

Nice to see you! smile

You too!

For some reason I thought they were just a notch above Depeche Mode on your dislike scale. I remember some poll that was on here and I think you might have given them a 3 or 4 out of 10. So it's nice to see that you still have some love for Big Bob. Makes sense that their debut would be your fave with all the Wire influence.
