Why people even stress over what those critics even say? What the hell does a critic know about MUSIC? Just enjoy the music and just not listen to it. It don't matter at the end of the day.

she has definitely grown so fast... you can tell she's more of the 'take charge' one of all the kids... she's a pretty girl. she does look less like her mother the older she gets too. crazy how some things work out that way.

Fulham unveils Michael Jackson statue

ulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed unveils a statue in tribute to Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson will now welcome fans to Craven Cottage in London.
Updated Apr 3, 2011 1:21 PM ET

LONDON (AP)

Fulham unveiled a statue of Michael Jackson outside its stadium on Sunday, with team chairman Mohamed Al Fayed telling fans to support another Premier League club if they don't like the idea.

Al Fayed, who was close friends with Jackson, danced with children after unveiling the statue of the "King of Pop" before Fulham's home match against Blackpool.

The statue outside Craven Cottage has divided opinion, but Al Fayed launched a passionate defense of his move to commemorate his friendship with Jackson, who died in 2009.

"Why is it bizarre?" he said. "Football fans love it. If some stupid fans don't understand and appreciate such a gift, they can go to hell.

"I don't want them to be fans. If they don't understand and don't believe in things I believe in, they can go to Chelsea, they can go to anywhere else."

Chelsea, the defending English champion, is the nearest Premier League team to Fulham, with both clubs located in southwest London.

"People will queue to come and visit it from all over Britain and it is something that I and everybody else should be proud of," Al Fayed said.

The statue had been slated to be erected outside Harrods department store, but those plans were shelved when Al Fayed sold the business last year.

The singer attended a Fulham match in 1999.

Sunday's game was not a thriller with Fulham beating Blackpool 3-0.

i don't care what ANYBODY says... this is my favourite rendition of all times of this song. it has moved me in a way no other version has moved me. even though he's performed it similarly over the years, this one (perhaps it's because it's with his brothers for the first time in 20 years or whatever)... i saw such sadness coming from him. this is devestatingly beautiful. it just moves me to tears. that note he hits at 2:37... chilling. and from 3:35 on... absolutely amazing.

Whilst I'm not the biggest fan of his MSG show, the I'll Be There performance was definately something special.

matty, i am TOTALLY with you!!! i'm not too into the rest of the show(s) either; but this specific performance did it for me. it made me sit up and take notice: i began right there to look at him as more than an 'entertainer', and found an appreciation for him that, despite having grown up with him since the 1970s (and 80s) i never had before. i felt it in my spirit more than i had ever felt with any other performances of the song.

Michael Jackson is “most popular act of digital age”

09:51 | Monday April 4, 2011

By Eamonn Forde

Data from Gracenote has revealed Michael Jackson is the most popular act of the digital age.

Alley Insider spoke to Gracenote about the type of music users are searching for and listening to online, based on its metadata.

It found that Michael Jackson was the artist most looked up on Gracenote's database, followed by Bob Marley and Tupac Shakur.

Gracenote's metadata covers artist names, album and song titles as well as sleeve artwork and the company say it is used in “billions of searches” a month on services like iTunes, Google lyric searches and Sony products. (Sony acquired Gracenote in 2009.)

The company added The Beatles were popular in Europe and North America but did not appear high in Data for the rest of the world.

I remember being disappointed by the TII performance of I'll Be There because it didn't evoke the same strong emotional reaction from me that I got watching the MSG performance. Of course that's totally unfair considering it was just a going-through-the-motions rehearsal.... but there was definately A LOT of emotion in that MSG rendition.

Joe: Posthumous albums will never compare to the albums MJ completed while alive. I would personally like to see all of his unfinished work released exactly as he left it, then, I don't mind what happens from there in terms of new mixes, remixes, etc. I like hearing different takes. Transparency is the key, especially when dealing with someone of Michael's historical import.

I was also going to comment on this answer. I was saying this in the car the other day! Fans LOVE hearing his demos.

'Love Never Felt So Good' wouldn't sound right if someone 'finished' it. GTFOOH! Get your hands off! Don't touch! Leave! Release it how he left it, thats what we love! I would have bought the album if that was the case.

If it was just the odd critic or so, it would be one thing, but the problem is that those critics influence future critics and journalists so that information continues to passed on from generation to generation. It's just like what was mentioned before in another post in one of these threads. You can find dozens and dozens of books about groups such as Aerosmith, The Beatles, and etc, but what about on artists such as Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie, & etc.? Example, when I go to this other huge music forum they don't know of a lot of albums by other black artists unless they're Thriller, What's Going On, 36 Chambers, anything rap, occassionally Purple Rain, and/or something really hot at the moment. Most of them just stick to what's been approved by 'rock critics' as that's the stuff that is seen as what art really is rather than what it is just perceived to be by a small number of people. Example, when Pitchfork approves D'Angelo's Brown Sugar, then it's seen as all right to like it rather than trying to listen to it themselves and realizing that it's ok to like it or hate it based on their own opinions.

I take whatever else I learn or listen to here and try share it over there. It's not a lot, but I have seen a some improvements from when I first started posting there. =/ I don't know if this irony, but, in reality, while I was really familiar with his later work, I never fully heard all of Thriller and Off The Wall. I got the albums from the forum when I randomly stumbled onto a music share thread they were having some time ago.

Thanks to you guys, I can read all MJ news on prince.org..I always appreciate it so much.
So this is just an idea. Don't you think we should get rid of MJ sticky and be able to post MJ related posts on Music: Non-Prince forum?
I read on "prince.org- site discussion forum" the reasons why they don't want us to get rid of the sticky are 1. People post too much Michael(which shouldn't matter!) 2. The folks on MJ Sticky are happy with sticky.

I don't know if you are all happy with the sticky...+_+
But I just don't see the point of having sticky...It's actually more difficult to search old news about Michael (Because if I wanted to find something, I'd have to go through all the pages on all previous MJ stickies!! And each sticky has at least 20 pages!!dead ), or when I want to read what Prince fans think about Michael, I just can't find it because Prince fans who have questions or strong personal opinions on Michael just don't come to MJ sticky!!!

I agree and disagree:

1) The whole "sticky" thing should indeed end, however 2) I don't think we should post random MJ threads all over this forum. What should happen is Michael should have his own sub-forum here now, to make variant discussions about him easier to sort.

The man owns this site. Might as well face it. lol
