MJ Family Offended by 'A.I.' Pepsi Moment

Michael Jackson's family is offended by a comment made on "American Idol" last night by a contestant, who made light of MJ's devastating injury that triggered years of drug abuse.

Pepsi Moments
If you saw the show, James Durbin told Ryan Seacrest after his performance, "I have a lot of hairspray in my hair to keep it from jumping around -- so much so, the one thing I was worried about was having a 'Pepsi moment.'"

The "Pepsi moment" is a reference to the 1984 incident where Michael Jackson's hair caught on fireduring the filming of a Pepsi commercial, severely burning his scalp -- an injury that triggered an addiction to prescription drugs that may have ultimately taken his life.

A Jackson family rep tells TMZ, "We were shocked to see this. It's nothing to make light of and everybody should be focusing on who was responsible for Michael's death."

The rep says Joe was particularly upset that producers didn't take the remark out of the West Coast feed.

Gotta pick your battles people! Yeah, the accident was serious, but this remark was completely harmless, imo. Let it go. Better keep them away from Kanye's "Through the Wire" now...

Oh yeah. This is one of my all time favourite moments. Is it possible to be so adorable and sexy as hell at the same time and not even be aware of it. That's what makes him even hotter.

HAPPYPERSON

Children Speak of Memories and Love For Michael “He knows Michael is an angel in heaven” See this loving tribute by children~

Children Speak of Memories and Love For Michael By Lauren Trainor Wed, Mar 02, 2011

About the author: Lauren is a native New Yorker who has lived in California for 30 years, where she has practiced medicine for several years. Lauren loves a good book, horses, her two special boys and three beautiful daughters. Lauren is a fierce advocate for Michael and is committed to healing his legacy through the love he always modeled for us.

Exerpt:
It is wonderful to hear from those who knew, worked or spent time with Michael, and heartwarming to learn about Michael the person, artist, friend and humanitarian; a reaching back in time and pulling truth into the now through voices familiar with his.

Part of Michael’s voice is his gift of music, shared globally and treasured by many as it is newly discovered by today’s children. Please enjoy the sense of discovery and wonder of the following youngsters as they share their experiences, in their own special way, of the love vibe in Michael’s gift of music and dance.

Layne is 4 years old. He met Michael and his music in June of 2009, and has been enthralled since that time. He has his own MP3 player that is chock full of songs like “Thriller”, “Beat It”, “Heal the World” and “Hold My Hand.” If he hears MJ's music, wherever he is, he will proudly sing and dance; he loves his book 'Ever After' and is mesmerized watching Michael dance.

>>>Interview with Layne (He knows Michael is an angel in heaven.)
Lauren: Layne, what is your favorite MJ song?
Layne: My first favorite Michael song is “Thriller.” My next favorite Michael song is “Hold My Hand.”
Lauren: Why do you like “Hold My Hand?”
Layne: Remember the part, (singing)...
"But together we can be alright
Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold
We hold each other till we see the sunlight.”
(Still singing), "...so if you just hold my hand"
Lauren: And what about “Thriller?” Why is that your favorite?
Layne: The part where the monkey-dog (Michael in costume as werewolf) and then the part where they are laying there and get up and go (singing).... "Dun…ah, Dun...ah..... (Intro to Thriller) and the dancing; when he starts moving around.
Lauren: What would be something you would like to tell Michael if you could talk to him?
Layne: I'd say.....”That’s not a question, cause I'm too shy. I can't talk to Michael on the phone.”
Lauren: What if he came to your house to play with you? What would you want to play with him?
Layne: I'd scream cause I'd be so happy. I'd start a song about 'I love you Michael.' (Singing)....'I love you Michael....'
Lauren: What would Michael do while you sang to him?
Layne: He would dance, and then after that he would start singing my song. And everybody would come to my house to see him. Michael would come and his friends would come, and we would all be singing.
Lauren: What color does Michael feel like?
Layne: Well, I would talk to him and say, what is your favorite color? Black, pink and red.
Lauren: What if Michael called you on the phone and asked what toy you would play with him?
Layne: My camera.
Lauren: What would you like to do with Michael if you could make a special day? Where would you take him and who would you like him to meet?
Layne: I'd do something special; I'd take a walk to all my friends and show him. The children would be excited and so would Michael. Michael would say, “OK Layne, let's take a walk.” I'd take him to find treasures.
Lauren: When you listen to your Michael songs, how does it make your heart feel?
Layne: Aqua. And aqua is wanting to dance to his songs.
Lauren: What do you love above Michael?
Layne: My favorite song is “Thriller.” The one thing I love about him is “Thriller”..... is my favorite song.
Lauren: How does Michael make you happy?
Layne: It would make me really happy if he was alive. I would be able to talk to him and sing to him. I would do this song (singing).... 'I love you Michael.'
Lauren: Michael liked to climb trees, did you know that?
Layne: (Eyes wide open), "WHAT? Why didn't you tell me that?"
Lauren: Would you like to do that with him?
Layne: Yes, Michael would help me.
Lauren: What is your favorite picture of Michael?
Layne: The picture of the Lord and MJ because "it touches my heart momma, and is love"
Layne’s favorite pix:

There are many children's stories -this touches the deepest part of our hearts-enjoy this "feel good" story - it serves to remind us all of what is so important!

I checked on MJJC and "birchey" said that they've been working on the Bad anniversary set for a couple of months and that a DVD of the Bad Tour (possibly in London) will be included)

No comment. I'm sorry that did nothing for me...and i actually like her... lol

giiiiiiirl, i agree... i actually get amused at all this, because isn't she violating some huge JW code, by going out and singing this secular music? am i missing something?

but yeah... this wasn't too exciting. i have seen very few people who are able to cover this song. and none are, of course, as good as michael doing it. i think his tone fits extremely well with temperton's arrangements.

Excerpt of an interview with Matt Forger

G-Man: What's the weirdest thing you've done in the studio? In terms of sonics, I mean.

Forger: Before the advent of digital technology, you needed to be creative acoustically and electronically. In the song "Billie Jean," when Michael sings the line "Do think twice" at end of the third verse, he's singing through a cardboard mailing tube. We often would record elements in the bathroom (tiled) because it would give it a short early reflection quality. The main percussion sound on the song "Beat It" was Michael beating on fiberboard drum cases with 1x3 inch pieces of wood in the mirrored room of Westlake Studio A. This was all normal. Now if you want to talk weird, on one song (not MJ) we ran a tape loop around the room supported by microphone stands on a two track machine. It was a loop of burps and was keyed by the kick and snare to give the effect of drums that were alive and breathing.

Another example of Mike being a percussionist.

yes indeed.. i love whenever these conversations about technique in the studio occurs. this is what i'm most interested in here.

"Water" isn't even a real record. I don't know who came up with the story that the song was real. If you watch the TII DVD, after MJ performs Billie Jean, Kenny gets on stage and says "church..." then he says "get some water" .. MJ simply says "water...water"

Nearly two years after Michael Jackson's death, his sister Latoya and the King of Pop's three children --Prince, 14, Paris, 12, and Blanket, 9 -- made a rare public appearance on Thursday.

After shopping at Forever 21 and a cell phone accessories cart in Beverly Hills, the foursome stopped by the GBK Kids Choice Lounge, which supports the Red Cross Japanese relief fund.

Co-sponsored by Tiger Beat and Bop, celebrity attendees were able to choose from a one week stay in the Caribbean, a certificate for a glitter tattoo party by Glimmer Body Art, more than 40 titles from the SEGA Genesis Classic Collection Gold Edition, as well as many other goodies.

"I had a wonderful, productive day! Having Japanese food right now. Very good," Latoya, 54, tweetedThursday night. "Don't forget about Japan! Please keep them in mind and do whatever you can to help."

Paris, Prince and Blanket Jackson were all spotted at The Grove yesterday -- and while Paris (left) sported a shirt with MJ's pic on the front and Blanket (right) wore an Ed Hardy tee (MJ and Christian Audigier were pals) ... it's unclear if Prince's shirt (middle) has any connection to the King of Pop.
