Part 1: Jackson invites Bashir to Neverland. Shows him around the ranch and races him in mini race car.

Tries to articulate what it's like to write a song, but just says it comes from within and you have to get out of the way and let the song write itself. Tries to teach Bashir to Moonwalk.

Walks outside with umbrella to shield his skin from his alleged rare skin complaint. Climbs his favourite 'giving tree' and contemplates.

Watches footage of his early days and listens to his first recording, 'Big Boy.' Repeats allegations of beatings at the hand of his father during rehearsals.

Part 2: Bashir and Jackson visit Las Vegas. Jackson says he likes the entertainment, but recalls in the early days when he shared a room with his brothers, and had to pretend to be asleep whilst his brothers would have sex with girls in the same room.

Describes being invited over to tatum O'Neil's house when he was young and not being ready when she tried to seduce him. He said he was naive and scared. When she asked him to lie on the bed and tried to unbutton his shirt, he covered his face and refused to move his hands, so she gave up.

Goes shopping and buys very gaudy looking urns.

Suggests that his father said: 'God your nose is big, you didn't get it from me' implying he had inherited the looks from his mother.

When challenged about a series of alleged operations to his face, he says 'That's BS. They made it up.'

Bashir is unconvinced and vows to return to the subject.

Part 3. Jackson and Bashir go out with his two children, Prince and Paris. He refuses to allow them out in public unless they are wearing masks.

Recounts being present at Prince's birth. Immediately afterwards there was some worry and the baby was taken to intensive care for 5 hours, but after being checked over, handed back to Jackson.

At Paris' birth, he claims he was so worried that something might be wrong that he took her home still covered in placenta - but with the doctor's permission and Debbie's agreement.

Says he is unable to say how long it was before Paris was reunited with Debbie - he just can't remember.

Describes third baby.

refuses to name the mother. 'I can't say. We have a contractual agreement'

Explains that none of the mothers now live with the children, but says it is not a problem. The children are OK with that.

Part 4: pretty disastrous trip to Berlin. Under intense media scrutiny and frenzied fan adulation, Jackson dangles baby over balcony.

Later takes other two children to the zoo, where pandemonium breaks out and the family trip to see the gorillas breaks down.

Jackson is clearly distraught and agitated when challenegd about his behaviour.

At an evening event, to close the vist to Germany, he takes to the stage too early.

Part 5: final part.

Jackson opens up Neverland to a group of disadvantaged children and seems in his element. But Bashir is disturbed to learn that children do not just visit for the day. Some still sleep over in his room.

Meet Gavin - the 12 year old who was diagnosed with cancer but who is now free of it. He holds Michael's hand and describes how he sleeps over at Michael's house, in Michael's room, in Miachael's bed - while Jackson, ever the host, tucks him in, reads a bedtime story, offers hot milk and cookies, and then goes to sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag.

'It's a beautiful thing' he declares and he cannot understand why people do not heal each other with love in this innocent way.

The final interview in Miami is a difficult one. Jackson admits to one and then two operations on his face (as far as he can recall!) His nose was operated on to allow him to breathe better and hit high notes.

Bashir seeks to explain that it is understandable if, given the diffficult childhood and taunts about his looks during adolescence, he had decided to pursue surgery, but other than two operations he claims the changes in the shape of his face are all due to growing up. He adds that he is being honest.

He is asked why his first son, Prince, commented to Bashir, when asked where his mummy was, that he didn't have a mother. Jackson explains that his mother couldn't deal with being a mother but gave birth to the first two children as gifts to him.

He also adds that the mother of Prince Michael II (or 'blanket as he is affectionately known) also gave birth as a surrogate mother - but the mother is unknown to him. This seemed strange given that he claimed earlier that he had a relationship with the woman.

Finally Bashir challenges him on his wisdom in allowing young, unrelated people to sleep over in his bed. Jackson pleads that the innocence of the sleep overs are beautiful. Bashir asks him what he thinks a parent would say if he (Bashir) asked one of their 12 or 13 year-olds to stay over. Jackson says that he knows the parents very well and his children sleepover with other people he knows well (he gives Barry Gibb as an example).

Immediate reaction to the whole thing.

Some of the stuff was not particularly revelationary. We already knew that Michael lives in a fantastic 3000 acre ranch wishing he'd never grow up, and not wanting to die. Seeing around the place only made it look like he was out of touch with the real world.

In terms of understanding the guy, we already know that he claims to have been physically and emotionally abused by his father when he was growing up.

Musically, there was little of real interest. It was disapponting to see Jackson in what I presume was his home studio (it looked a bit of a mess) but we had no footage of him either playing a musical instrument or singing, just doing some dance moves that he has been doing for twenty years.

We learned nothing about his dealings with Sony or opinions about their boss, Tommy, which was a shame, but maybe the filming didn't time well with that, or maybe he was advised against discussing this.

Inevitably, the programme focussed on the stuff that Bashir would definitely want some answers to - the face, his children, and the sleepovers.

He denies having surgery in the initial part of the programme, but later concedes to two nose operations (as best as he can remember). He was unconvincing, and his claim that his face changed due to natural growth came across IMHO as untruthful.

His story regarding the raising of his children via surrogate mothers who now appear to have no contact with their offspring only added to the unreal picture of his world, and the fact that he seemed to change his story about his relationship with Prince Michael II's mother during the filming again gave the impression that he was not always truthful when answering on this subject.

The scenes with the 12 year old and Michael's assertion that kids who come over often seem to end up in his bedroom - seemingly often in the bed, but he always sleeps on the floor (they always ask to sleep in the room - he never invites them) did him no favours whatsoever.

The man (and at times it was hard to remember that this was a 44 year-old man) said he had a dream to adopt a boy and a girl from each continent but, however wealthy he may or may not be, this can't have helped any adoption plans he has.

I dunno... I feel sorry for him but he didn't do himself any favours either. As for denying the facial surgery, that's understandable given the apparent reasons why he was driven to change his face in the first place. He's obviously not goin to want to talk about it if he feels that way about his appearance.

Talking about having loads of kids all jam packed in bed with him made my skin crawl, even though he apparently doesn't see the world that way at all. Which I suppose is touching, but it's too naive.
