Rihanna has been hurt before, but this time it was by someone she has known all her life. The singing sensation shares how her relationship with her father fell apart after he sold her out to the media.


In the April issue of Vogue, the 23-year-old superstar reveals that her dad Ronald Fenty recently exposed her dirty laundry to the tabloids and gave them the rights to some of her childhood photos.

“It really makes me question what I have become to my father. Like, what do I even mean to him?” a tearful Rihanna told the magazine. “It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it. You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, Not my family. My father would never do that to me.”

While she has a hard time grasping his motive, this is not the first time he has betrayed her. After Chris Brown assaulted her two years ago, Fenty called up the media to offer his two cents. “That was the first time,” she continued. “My dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies. Because he hadn’t talked to me after…that whole thing…. He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check. And now he does it again.”

But after several attempts, RiRi is done trying to mend the broken relationship. “Now I’m like, Whatever, I tried.”

It's always two sides and the truth to a story. I remember reading some write up about a couple years ago that she turned her back on him while he was homeless

I don't know about this story. However, I remember when Rihanna first came on the scene they were promoting her as bi-racial and stated that her father was a white Barbadian or Bahamian (can't remember which island) who had abandoned RiRi and her mother. This man is clearly not white.

i love her reference to how "strange" she feels that her dad "sold" her out to the media. she has been doing plenty fine on her own, selling herself and soul. And her videos are so open about her invlovement. she does not look like some1 who would be involved in that "seceret society" bs ---

not to mention the dirty truth b-hind the Chris Brown "beating" -- dude did not want to join.

i am glad P is not involved with that crap. but it makes you wonder, if he was ever approched by them back in the day......

You know what I'm saddened by? Her performances.

We all got problems and pasts. When she hits the stage, none of that seems to come out in her. She is passionless as an artist. I can't even call her an entertainer; she doesn't even entertain me. She's just a visual distraction with a trendy haircut.

This was a good interview. Vogue did her justice, IMO, because the photos were nice as well. I wasn't sure what to expect . I've been put off from Vogue ever since that First Lady Obama cover. Ugh.

Her dad said recently that Rihanna saw him doing drugs and stuff, so I wonder if he's still using and sells more info about her when he needs a fix? That's the impression I get. I remember reading that they reconciled and she took him on tour with her. But he kept getting drunk so she sent him home or something like that (this was around the time she was going with Chris). I always wondered why a lot of the info he gave out during the aftermath of the beating never seemed to pan out.
