Jermaine Jackson has a book deal

from the AP:

A long-rumored memoir by Michael Jackson's brother Jermaine is finally coming out.

Touchstone announced Wednesday that Jermaine Jackson's "You are Not Alone: Michael: Through a Brother's Eye" will be released this fall. Touchstone, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, promises a "faithful and loving portrait," but one with "no subject off limits."

Jackson spoke in 2003 of wanting to write a memoir and reports surfaced again after Michael's death, in 2009.

I'm not interested in a book. I wish he would do some music instead.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I disagree. I believe he has one, but he may not be willing to publicly admit it. We speculate a lot on the org, which is all we can do. I really wanna hear his reason for not doing more.

I went to a show last year with Troop, SOS Band, Came, and Peabo. Take out any one of those artists and add Jermaine. shrug Not much difference. And maybe that is why he isn't performing more, because he is a "Jackson" and feels like he should headline or whatever. He could actually headline a show like this if wants. lol But he doesn't apparently. Dah well, no need to whoop this dead horse anymore.

Jermiane if you're watching, fuck yo' book, dude. evillol Get that setlist from Soulalive and make it happen.

He did have his own way. He was cool with doing his thing until the first child molestation suit against Mike. It's like he lost focus or something when that popped off.

Dude, if people will pay to see Lionel's boring ass in concert, and labels and producers are still willing to work with him on his latest material then some label and some notch producers are willing to work with Jermaine. lol Just saying...

HarperCollins acquires Jermaine Jackson title

HarperCollins has bought a book by Jermaine Jackson about the life of his pop star brother Michael.

World rights to You are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother's Eyes were bought by Natalie Jerome, publishing director for Harper non-fiction, from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown. It will be published simultaneously by Simon & Schuster in the United States in autumn 2011.

Described by the publisher as "an expert witness to history from the inside", the book will detail Michael Jackson's life, from his early stardom as a child with the Jackson Five, through the massive success he experienced in the 1980s and 1990s to the infamous 2005 child molestation case, as well as the final weeks of his life when his planned comeback was cut short when he died in June 2009, aged 50.

Jerome said: "There are very few figures in the world like Michael Jackson and there remains an enormous amount of love and a desire to understand what his life was like. Like everyone I had a perception of who Michael was, but what I've read from Jermaine so far has altered everything I had believed, and I think fans the world over are going to be surprised and moved by this book.

"This is a once in a lifetime publication and the team at HarperCollins are delighted to be Jermaine's publisher."

Jackson said: "We don't want Michael's life – or death – to be an eternal mystery. This is the truth as we know it. I have read so much about what people think they know about Michael, but this is about what really happened. I hope to make sense of the occasions when the outside world struggled to understand my brother's world.

"Everyone has said it all about Michael and us. They cannot say anything more. Now it is our turn."

i disagree. as boring as lionel is, he still has TONS of hits that are well known all over the world, from his commodore days to his 80s heyday. stuff he's written that others recorded e.g., 'lady' by kenny rogers. even jermy's most popular songs are nowhere near the level of popularity of lionel's LEAST popular songs. i think that's true.

as to the labels and producers wanting to work with jermy? uh, no. didn't jimmy jam or terry lewis try doing somethinig with the brothers in that reality show? i think the fact that they couldn't get anything going with the remaining jacksons, and jermy's prima donna behavior, showed to anyone else who might have been interested that these guys had nothing to offer anymore.

also on the same point, i don't think it was the accusations about his brother that made jermy lose focus. i believe it was his OWN accusations ('word to the bad') that made him 'lose focus'. whether you were a fan of mj or not, that sh** was foul, and i think it caused labels and producers to have second thoughts about working with someone who would publically dog his brother like that. and since, as i said, he was only moderately successful in the first place, i think the attitude toward him was, why bother? i think that's what really happened to jermy.

There are people who are still fans of Jermaine's music, and there are producers that would be willing to work with him, including Jam and Lewis, just because he is Jermaine Jackson. He can still sing, and he's hella connected in the industry. Maybe the MJ accusation didn't directly impact Jermaine's work ethic, but it was around that time when he all but disappeared from the American music scene to take up his quest of defending the family honor...whatever that is. lol

He has the tools and resources, but no desire apparently. shrug That's all good. I'm just curious as to why and I would like to hear from him why he's not doing music anymore. We can speculate that it's his ego, or his family commitments ( falloff ) , or that he wants to peform with the brothers, or whatever... While he's running his mouth about his brother, I want him to explain that shit.

It's he equivalent of wanting to know why Prince won't pay his bill and shit on time. evillol Can he, or is he just not giving a fuck?

But think about it, that work rhetoric he had while he was in Motown started to LEAVE him when he moved to Arista and reunited with his family. Now he's nothing more than a freeloader. He blew his chances to be a pop star long time ago.

Also I believe he was BLACKBALLED from the record industry after "Word to the Badd". It destroyed his career. Whatever kind of success he had got completely overshadowed. That's why he's been trying to please the PR with his "I love you Michael" schemes. Not saying he didn't love his brother but come on.

Now THIS is possible! I know several real G's that had that album, so musically had some appeal. falloff WTTB was a huge mistake, even it was true.

Did he put out another album after that one?

Aint nobody wanna read that mess. It will flop just like most other books about MJ. Most books about MJ do not sell well for the most part. Never have.

Jermaine is a very talented singer and instrumentalist as well tho. He needs to record some new music/go on tour instead of trying to milk MJ's legacy with another tired "revealing" book about Michael.

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart
