Mint Condition to release new album "7" April 5

EXCLUSIVE: New Mint Condition Album '7...' Dropping April 5th

Date: 2/8/2011 9:39:23 AM | SR Staff
Filed under: R&B News, Mint Condition

Mint Condition Veteran R&B group Mint Condition will release their forthcoming studio album entitled '7…' on April 5th. The set is lead by the first single “Caught My Eye,” which the group recently shot the music video for.

It’s mostly classic Mint; It will have some surprises in there,” Mint Condition tells Singersroom about the new CD. “It’s going to be a lot of musicality to it…we coming real strong.”

Mint, who says they “embrace all the things that’s going on in the world,” states they don’t have to try to fit in but just “come with what they do” because of their fans.

“The good thing about Mint Condition is that we got fans from young teenagers to the parents,” says the group. “They all have something that they love about Mint Condition. People from Stevie Wonder to Alicia Keys love what we do.”

Mint Condition previously stated that this new album touches on all things in life and that it’s about finding truth in music.

“The material on the new CD is inspired by all walks of life. Some of it is narrative-things that actually happened or are happening right now. Some things are fantasy,” The band shares. “But all the things that people feel on the daily is where we always try to go - hopes, dreams, fears, accomplishments and failures...but always we try and find truth in the music and lyric, even if it is fiction.”

Stay tuned for our exclusive video interview with Mint Condition plus the behind the scenes of their “Caught My Ey

Life's Aquarium was criminally underrated. The band did their best songwriting on

this project. Elektra screwed them on this album. I remember they even pushed

the release date on the album twice.

You beat me to it. I was gonna post these two opening tracks from Life's Aquarium.

I used to burn the laser beam on the cd player up with these two joints.

The new ballad and first single "Caught My Eye" sounds promising. I couldn't fully embrace their last album, although I tried.

They slipped a bit on the last one, but I still dig it.

My favorite from their first joint was "So Fine". Mainly for the energy between Stokely vocals and the lead guitarist. Not a deep song or anything but love the passion in it nonetheless. It didn't get alot of love as I remember it. People was still stuck on "Pretty Brown Eyes."

So "From the Mint Factory" wasn't their first CD in '93? My bad.... cool

EDIT: I got my old CD's and dates mixed up. I see now that in '91 they dropped Meant to be Mint first.

Yes they did. I even listened to a few of the tracks over time i didn't care for too much.

Back and Forth caught my ear eventually but there are probably only 5

tracks on the album i listen to regularly compared to Livin The Luxury Brown.

So Fine is a concert favorite. It's usually the second song they get into after an

opening jam.
