Dolly Parton ~ Dumb Blond This is from 1967. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I read a book a few years ago that was written by a guy who used to work with The Beatles, and he said that in the mid 1970's Dolly and Ringo Starr played some sort of big practical joke on him for his birthday. I don't remember the details though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Beautiful person, inside & out.
And funny too, the story about her showing up @ the 9 to 5 film set memorizing the whole script(hers & everybody's part) cracked me up It also showed how dedicated she is to her work.
Some folks here might give me the side-eye for saying this, but I honestly think the original version of "I'll Always Love You" is more heartfelt & moving by a faaaaaar mile than Whitney's plastic version.

So, here I sit, loving the discovery of a new Dolly tune and it comes to the, "theres one thing I learned" part and I sit up in anticipation forsome deep soul southern philosophy from Ms. Parton and she sings, "blonds buy more peroxide".
Only Dolly...only Dolly. Space for sale...

ms. parton, some years later.
and ms. parton presenting ms. houston an award for her song! she looked sincerely proud of whitney. dolly parton is such a gracious woman (she was gettin' PAID though, whenever whitney's (and her!) versions came on!!!)
i love watching interviews with her, she is no joke! she keeps it real.
