Recommend me some 80's albums

Apart from Prince's 80's work (which i love) and Mj's, what are some good/great pop/rock albums of the 80's that you'd recommend? Infact any genre except metal. smile Just a few of your favourites

Back In the High Life-Steve Winwood

She's So Strange-Cyndi Lauper

Dirty Dancing soundtrack

Forever Your Girl-Paula Abdul

Jody Watley

Diana Ross-Diana

check out work from Van Halen, Culture Club, Wham, Tears For Fears, Phil Collins as well and decide if it's for you

I purposely left out Madonna and Janet too or I'd be naming them all for you.

Sade-Diamond Life, her strongest album IMO

I think Karyn White's first two albums, though one is from the 90's are great too.

I didn't care for Diamond Life as much as I did Promise. Promise is perfection to me.

As for Karyn, her debut album was released in 88, the other 2 albums were released in the 90s.

Well, besides the obvious (prince, madonna, Michael, Journey, cindy Lauper...)

- "Rio"/"Duran Duran" (Duran Duran) : New wave era

- "Computer World" (Kraftwerk) : Ancestor of 'electro' music

- "Daydream Nation" (Sonic Youth) : proto-grunge

- "It Takes A Nation To Hold Us Back" (Public Enemy): Ever read Vainandy talking 'bout how hip-hop was 'fun' and 'funky' back in the day? Check this!

- "Don't Be Cruel" (Bobby Brown)

- "Joshua tree" (U2) : I can't stand Bono, but I gotta admit this album is good!

- "Faith" (Georges Michael): Your typical 80s pop album. sounds quite adted no though

- "Avalon" (Roxy Music): Nice MOR music

- "Introducing the Hard line..." (Terrence Trent d'Arby) : Once considered a serious rival for Prince...

- "Desintegration" (The Cure): For your gloomy days...

- "Light Up The Night" (The Brother Johnsons) : Funky as hell, produced by Quincy jones and featuring... Michael Jackson!

- "Stop Making Sense!" (Talking Heads) : nice fusion of Funk/pop/punk/afrobeat/rock music... 'Art Rock'

- "Appetite For Destruction" (Guns n Roses) : Axl Rose might be a moron but he's still a hell of singer/pianist

- "Island Life" (Grace Jones) : carribean-flavored experimental pop. An underrated piece!

Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.
