I mentioned this here before not too long ago so forgive me for the repetition but I only recently found out that this was not a Neptunes original. I first heard the song on Kelis' Wanderland as an untitled bonus track and I just assumed that it was an original song by the Neptunes. I'm not a big Phil Collins fan and I prefer Kelis' version, there's a lot more anger in her take, but I gotta give him some credit for this song. I kind of wrote him off as producing nothing but fluff. |

It's OK, yeah I can get why people would think this was done by Kelis because the belief people have about Phil is all he did was romantic pop songs. So I understand. |

I'll always associate this song with Miami Vice, that series played a couple of Collins songs during their run. |

Thinking about the song and the album it came from " Hello, I Must Be Going", another classic breakup / divorce album from an artist. |

I actually got in a friendship-ending argument with someone because she made fun of a Phil Collins song.
That's how cool I think he is; that if you think he sucks, I don't even want to be bothered with you.
I love a lot of his stuff, except for those corny Motown Covers he did.
This song is perfect for when you just don't give a fuck. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day |

Yeah I don't really care for those that much but his solo material's great, especially the ones where he talks of relationships gone bad. "Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away" has been one of my favorites recently. |

A college mate of mine wore that song out, but it's the finest song on the album (IMO) You know he recorded this album as a result of his wife (his first marriage) leaving him for another man. He said he was kinda bitter. You think? |

Exactly. Dude was real ticked off then. I always thought if people listened to Phil with an open ear, they can get past the radio-playing songs. |

Pretty much all the angry/sad/darker stuff he's done, is his best work to me - whether it was the solo stuff like "In the Air Tonight" or "Take Me Home"; or the stuff he did with Genesis, like "Mama" or "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight". True. I still think his best Genesis songs were "That's All", "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight", "Land of Confusion" and "I Can't Dance". |
