Bey would do a much better job than Xtina. I think it shoulda been singers who Queen Ree inspired, women like Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Fantasia, Monica, Miss Patti, Chaka, Brandy and Whitney.

DETROIT -- The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is opening up about her illness, music and future. During an phone call with Local 4's Hank Winchester on Wednesday, Franklin said she's feeling great and making plans to hit the road on tour. "I'm feeling wonderful, very good. I can't wait to get on my tour bus and get back out there," she said. She said she is planning to perform at Detroit's Fox Theatre from June 3- 5. Franklin said her surgery last year for a medical condition was a success. She said it is the support from family, friends and fans that is getting her through her recovery. "I just want to thank everyone who sent me lots of cards, beautiful flowers and who have given me their very strong support verbally and physically," she said. "And, more than all, those who said a prayer for me." Franklin said she stands by her decision to not publicly disclose her medical condition. When asked if the rumors bothered her, she said, "No, not at all." "Nobody in my family said anything like what was reported in the papers," she said. "It's just one of those things. You can't control what people say or going to say." A tribute is planned Sunday at the Grammy Awards for Franklin. Local 4 has learned that Jennifer Hudson and Christina Aguilera will be among a artists honoring Franklin during the open of the award's show. Sources also said Franklin would not be at the show but has taped a video message that will air. The awards being at 8 p.m.
