You know? Looking back, the 2004 halftime show was the beginning of the end. lol I only enjoyed probably three half time shows: Michael Jackson's, Diana Ross' (remember when she left in the helicopter while in mid-pose?! CLASSIC!) and Prince's. Everything else is like confused Even Janet's performance pre-wardrobe malfunction left a lot to be desired THOUGH it was way better than when Nelly, Puffy and Kid Rock came out. OH GOD THAT WAS HORRIBLE. I imagined the BEP's performance was like that (and the one with Britney, N Sync, Mary J. Blige and Aerosmith). lol

Slash having Fergie sing the song as a finger note to Axel Rose for not wanting a GNR reunion to include Slash.

I would say Slash should be ashamed of himself, but he did a song with Rhianna. Clearly, he has no shame left, and apparently sold it off to the highest bidder!

They were really, really terrible. In all respects.

The fact that they had to resort to a COVER with the only musicianship of the show provided by someone else in Slash for a 10-minute slot shows how bankrupt of ideas and talent they are.

I knew you wouldn't let THAT halftime show slide. lol

Yahoo news

Super Bowl halftime show worst in years

The Black Eyed Peas' performance is a "been there, heard that" experience, says one critic. Robotic vocals

Now wait a minute. no no no! I'm not going to defend the musical chops of the Black Eyed Peas, but The Rolling Stones halftime show was worse than this. And there were worse halftime shows back in the late 1990s. Most of the people dissing this show probably aren't fans of current artists anyway, so no discussion of the positive aspects of the performance will convince them otherwise.

typing

The Who were far worse than The Rolling Stones. Those old rock legends lost their singing vocals two decades ago.

great costumes! Cool lights! But the musical core and performance itself was like something you'd see in a mall.

Usher could have been a show by himself, not a BEP groupie. I say put Kanye, John Mayer, and Diddy and have a toast to the talented douchebags.

Oh please! rolleyes Usher didn't even sing OR lip-sync. And he's still on that fake "I'm the heir to Michael Jackson's throne" hyped. lol

And not in the good way.

And to think both of those hot messes could have been avoided if Axel would make peace with Slash and have a real Gunz 'N Roses reunion.

Slash is a sellout, no doubt. But Axel is still an asshole.

When Kim Hill was the singer, they were pretty good, but they didn't sell. The label was going to drop them if they didn't start doing more commercial music. Kim wasn't interested in going pop, so she quit. Then they got Fergie who used to be in a girl group called Wild Orchid. That's when they blew up.

I saw it. It was ok. But I felt like I had seen it before. And it felt like it went for too long.

By the end of it I was a little - ok, enough already.

seriously . i thought it was BLAH . and usher . someone else had it right on ... he comes out like he is the next M J and ... well ... i honestly cant name 2 songs he sings ... that song he sang there was horrible ...

Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

They were okay I guess in comparison to the last couple of years, but still bored me to no end. Usher wasn't needed and don't see how Slash mixed in well with them...maybe he needed a gig shrug as did Usher hah! But honestly, they (the organizers) should had given Prince a call to do the halftime show again. call

Fergie butchering "Sweet Child O'Mine" disbelief

Slash should've been turned up and done a long-ass solo a la 1995 MTV VMA's - 15 years ago but still legendary!

Even Usher couldn't save them, thank heavens he was only on briefly - I ain't an Usher fan but if this was his show, it would've probably been A LOT better than this dross...

In short, this was a God-awful halftime show, but then again after Prince a few years ago, it was always gonna be hard to beat (Kool-aid free).

'dre

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

BEP won't win any awards for what they did but it was entertaining enough.

The Super Bowl is a big overhyped pile of bullshit anyway, don't forget this. Does it have to mean anything?

My two cents. twocents While they certainly aren't Prince, Bruce Springsteen, or U2, I was quite pleasantly surprised at their performance. They did do a terrific job of doing a visually enetrtaining stadium show, complete with glowing lights and good choreography. Even Usher's surprise appearance was good.

typing

yeahthat Everyone I know who went to game said it was visually STUNNING. It looked pretty good on my HD plasma when I replayed. That's what a superbowl halftime show is supposed to be fun, good to look at, and readily accessible to the masses. BTW, I HATE BEP but I gotta give 'em credit. They sounded horrible but most events in an arena, especially in the biggest dome in the world, suffer from bad sound, plus Fergie can't carry a note in a basket. shake

Canned music, shoddy vocals, no oomph to the performance ... what a musical travesty. And to think they were given one of the biggest stages to perform on. "Ah buddy what a .... waste"
