Let's Celebrate Some Cheese

You know them songs, so damn cheesy and syrupy (I'm looking at you Diamond & Pearls) they can ruin a career yet somehow they work and become a world wide hit. Let's celebrate the cheese that can some times come become guilty pleasures.

Like:

Extra credit: County got it bad for the cheese, too.

I could post all day and night as pretty much all my music collection is massively cheesy (and some of it worldwide popular, or at least popular in the US and UK, like those posted below), but I do own and love all these songs LOL

Notice they all have great production. Well they do to me LOL.

I'm so unironically in love with that music that I don't even know what's cheesy and what's not.

I remember Olivia Newton-John singing "I Honestly Love You". Good song. The clip is of her singing it at the close of her "Physical" tour back in the day when she was hugely popular.

Well, I'm an 80's kid, so here are my slices of cheesy goodness, biggrin

Can't believe P-Diddy/Puffy/Puff Daddy sampled "Break My Stride".

Roxette is a band I do not care for then and now. I think the MTV DJ said it best back in the day, Roxette must have listen to HEART in order to get this song. Yeah, I said it they where a cheap cover of Heart's sound.

Maybe the mid to late 80's HEART but they are no way a copy of the 70's Heart or Current Heart.

I love "You Should Hear How She Talks About You" from Melissa Manchester. One of my fave 80's hits.

Roxette's sound seemed so recycled, even during their heyday.

Roxette's heyday sound was not surprisenly a much more european brand of hi tech AOR then Heart's by then commericialized commitee AOR. Roxette's "the look" and "joyride" etc...usually had more more drum programming then any of Heart's stuff from that era. Much more hi tech aor/pop for lack of a better word, which to me sounds more european. I lump mid-early 90's Heart with Cher, Chicago and David Cassidy's self titled album from that era.

Always hated "listen to your heart" though.

Roxette was pretty interesting because it was coming out of Sweden, my memory of ROXETTE oddly enough was when they were starting to get talked about for "The Look" the music Video for the COver Girls "Because Of You" debuted, and it was possibly the cheapest video ever shot, but it was great. As for Roxett i dont dislike them by any means.

I inadvertantly started a Roxette discussion. eek

In any case, Look Sharp! is still a favorite of mine, as is the overlooked Have a Nice Day from 1999.

I used to love this song, one of the first tunes I learned how to play on my Magnus organ, lol. I remember when this song used to play many times a day on the radio. How times have changed since then.
