To this forum and most likely to others he lol. I don’t think he’s the greatest at all but he has talent and I’m a fan. Many other sites I visit people want him to release a new album so interest is there.

well, cerntainly not on the org LOL.
I'm still not sure if he's talented or not. I like his albums, but not sure how much of these albums are really Timberlake. His voice is easy to listen to, but nothing special.

He is talented, but he is also a huge punkass bitch and that gets in the way. Is he as talented as he thinks he is? No. He also was not the best singer in Nsync. That was JC. What Justin has is charisma, an unerring ability to sniff out great material and to surround himself with people more talented than he. He also is a VERY savvy businessman who is VERY aware of his brand and image. He may be a lot of things, but he is NO dummy. He knows how to play the game. I knew reading the responses to this this thread on a forum where there threads about what Janet Jackson had for breakfast are overflowing would be comical.

I treated him like dirt all decade despite owning his albums, buying the last album from a charity event instead of HMV. I like his songs, love his producers, don't like him as a person though I like the look he was sporting in 2008 when he duetted with Madonna. It's fun dancing to his stuff, I'll give him that.

Yes! He set sexy back... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Overrated if compared to the greats from the past decades? Yes. Overrated by today's standards? Probably not.
He's made an effort at moving away from boy band music and deserves respect for that. The last record was pretty rare in the sense that it was commercially successful, while it also had an artistic edge to it. I'm myself most annoyed by his vocal mannerisms that sound like he was still in a boyband. His voice just doesn't always match the music that well. Can't say I'd really enjoy listening to him more than the occasional song that comes up on a youtube playlist or something like that.
I just get the feeling in overall that he is not comfortable with who he is or what he has done in the past. Thus the punkbitchedness.

I enjoy JT's music and think he has talent. I buy his albums. I don't think he's overrated, unless you start comparing him to MJ and Prince. That's when it gets ridiculous.

He ain't the worst thing in pop music right now. Some of his songs are actually pretty good ("Rock Your Body","My Love",etc). He's better than alot of other people who are 'hot' right now.

He's been a success in just about everything he's done, made a successful transition from a boy band to a solo career.
Overrated means you're being brainwashed into liking it, because you're told it's good, yet you're brain is saying that this completely sucks, or winds up getting award nominations just because a great actor is carrying a mediocre film.
There will be a few things he'll be remembered for: N'Sync, Britney's first boyfriend, and the hand that ripped Janet Jackson's shirt off in front of billions of people. Maybe he'll get an Oscar nomination one day, but he's not in the running for "The Social Network". But it assures him he'll be working with movie heavyweights in the future. And who knows... maybe you'll see Trent Reznor produce Timberlake because of that movie. He's a decent entertainer but wouldn't call him extraordinary.
He covers the "real musician" thing by being able to play along to a piano.
Between him and Usher, they're the sons of Michael Jackson, the MSG show in '01 was kind of like knighting the both of them. At least that's how I saw it.
I go with neither overrated nor underrated. He does his music, goes on SNL, goes on tour, then does a couple of movie. It didn't hurt having Timbaland produce him, but I guess when Chris Cornell tried it, it backfired so hard he reunited with Soundgarden.
He has enough money and success to assure having a top 40 hit and be able to work in any genre of music and get some credibility from the snobby critics.
He's been around for 14 years, and I don't think he's fading into obscurity anytime soon.

as much as i played his last album, i can't say i don't like him. but he is a bit annoying.
wouldn't call him overrated since most people seem to dislike him. yet he did sell a lot of records.
i'd be interested in hearing another album and see what he comes up with, without the help of timbaland since he had his fingerprints all over that last album, just like nelly furtado's "loose".
i think it was mainly the unit they had at that time, tim/nelly/justin. it made for two of my favorit albums of that year.
however, beyond that i seldom listen to justins guest appearances on other people's stuff more than once. as a person or a duet partner or a moviestar, he's boring and a total non event.
but as an album artist, i'm still very interested.
overrated? yeah, perhaps, but who isn't overrated, or perhaps the word that should be used here is "overhyped". no matter who you are, if the tv and magazines pick you up and decide you're the best thing since sliced bread, they're gonna force you down everyone's throat, wether you or they like it or not. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

YES He's not that good of a singer and I think he has a whiny, annoying singing voice. He's smart and calculating with his career though.

I would say he's more savvy than talented although thats not neccesarily a criticsm.
I mean with his first album he took no chances by throwing money at the Neptunes and Timbaland (the two hottest producers at that time) to provide him with material that would gaurentee his solo music would: a) stand apart from the stuff he did with Nsync b) gain credibility with the RnB and pop audience. It worked on both counts.
He then bidded his time, observing that the Neptunes status as hitmakers was on the wane and Timbaland was going through something of a rut. He then went back in to the studio with Timbaland for his 2nd record just as Timbaland had taken on Danja as a co-producer and was experiencing a creative rebrith. Again he got the high quality material he wanted.
I think the reason he hasn't bought out a record since is because he is unsure if any of the current hit making producers can gaurentee to bring the goods in the same way the Neptunes and Timbaland did. I think he's right, again savvy.
The only way we'll really know about his talent level is if he produces a record himself or goes in with a prodcuer who isn't an established hitmaker.

Anybody that came out after 1984 and was hugely successful is overrated. Andy is a four letter word.

Very overrated. Sounds and acts like a woman and tries too hard to be sexy/masculine (when he's the opposite.)
He's also ugly...needs a nose-job and hate his hair!
