I hate on Katt, but wont lie Katt is/was funny from time. But that whole pimp act got tiresome, dude was a pimp in everything he played, he type-casted himself and that's probably why he went crazy/is not working today. Also, sometome his material he reused it a lot. I seen him on I think 4 different specials/shows between 2004-2006 (BET Comedy Awards / BET Comic View / Def Comedy Jam / Pimp Chronicles) say the exact same thing on a few instenses.

And than MJ, I heard comics talk about MJ before nothin new, but he took it to a whole new level. It was a force full showinfg, the crowd was shocked and not Paul Mooney like shocked. He was forcing the audience to laugh and it wasn't funny.

Most of the audience's responses were " confused neutral eek sad boxed disbelief " lol

I remember when it first came out and alot of people loving that segment. I never watched Kat's special but people I seen always talk about the michael part. Chris Rock would go in on michael as well.

That's true. Dave Chappelle definitely was the competition.

Hopefully Kevin Hart can do a Dave Chappelle and blow up!!

Before Chris Rock dominating from the late 90s on, it was Martin Lawrence in the mid 90s for a few years, Damon Wayans for a few years in the early 90s and maybe Arsenio or Robert Townsend for a year or so in the late 80s.

Kevin Hart not that funny... kinda corny, I rather just someone new come along.

Has anyone ever seen Katt Williams peform stand up before 2002 when he got his first role in Friday After Next? I read that he has been doin stand up since 1990. I wanna know if he has always potrayed this "pimp"character from the beginning or did this come after his "pimp" character from Friday?

I believe it was after "Friday After Next" because I sure didn't remember Katt in the early '90s. Didn't hear nothing about him UNTIL "Friday After Next".

right

Katt Williams had him for a minute... but he's not in the scene at this time, right? What happened to him?

Katt never had anything for a minute. His whole act was an act (a pimp). Dave Chappelle had Chris for a hot second, but Chris Rock has been the top comic (at least black comic) since 1996.

Dave Chappelle shows up at comedy clubs and does hours (sometimes as much as six!) of material that's often different from one night to the next. Chris Rock does ninety minute sets that are nearly the same from night to night. They're both hilariously funny, but they aren't the same anymore. Dave took it underground after he left the Chappelle show and that works for him. Chris sells out huge theaters and that works for him.

Dave is not the first to do that much, I read that Eddie Griffin used to stay on the stage for hours.

Oh for sure. I'd bet Eddie Griffin isn't the first, either. I just wanted to point out that it's not completely fair to compare Chris and Dave anymore. Because Dave has purposely made everything he does into something different than what everybody else is doing. Dave could do the exact same style of shows that Chris does at the same size venues. If he did that he would be getting much more exposure and acclaim and probably be widely considered one of the funniest guys on the planet. But he's chosing to do something different.

Dave is still considered one of the funniest guys in the planet. I mean how much more exposure does Dave need, it's Dave, he can really do whatever he wants, he just choses not too.

I'm pretty sure is Chris wanted too, he could do 7 hour of stand up, but he has no need too and he's involved in other stuff writing or producing or playing in something ect. Chappelle hasn't done anythig since Block Party in 2005 or whenever that came out ... nothin. He said he's done with mainstream America so he has time to do 7 hour shows in San Franciso or wherever that was, no hating on Dave, he's one of my favs.

I just think Chris is a better stand up comic, imo. It's not by a lot though but nothin Dave has done (Killing Them Softly or For What It's Worth) can't top BRING thE PAIN.

Dave's kind of rebellious. Turning down $50 million. Sometimes I think he's a nut for turning it down but then again I can see WHY he turned it down and why he's turning it all around. Least he actually shows up and gives people his money's worth (from what I read, people still laugh hard as hell at his comedy) unlike a one-trick pony musician we all know and love who only released one album and shows up three hours late to a gig. lol

Dave's not on Twitter, at all. I don't know about Katt. I suspect that it's not really him, either.

Dave tries to avoid the spotlight a lot of the time, so why would he be on Twitter?

Plus, if he was really on there, they would've verified his ass right away.
