I love this song but it doesn't make me weepy. It's good for meditating.

I'm surprised a studio version is up. Warners usually blocks it. lol Here's a remake on George Benson's 2009 album.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This song and Ride Like The Wind used to be played on the R&B station where I lived. Ride Like The Wind still gets airplay every once in awhile today on the R&B oldies station.

There's all kinds of songs that used to get airplay on R&B stations that people today wouldn't expect. A few I recall were:

Paul Simon ~ Slip Sliding Away, Julio By The Schoolyard

Steve Miller ~ Fly Like An Eagle

Pet Shop Boys ~ West End Girls

Fabulous Thunderbirds ~ Tuff Enough

Information Society ~ What's On Your Mind

Gloria Estefan ~ Conga, Rhythm's Gonna Get You

The Eagles ~ One Of These Nights, Hotel California

Don Henley ~ All She Wants To Do Is Dance

Captain & Tennille ~ Do It To Me One More Time

Tears For Fears ~ Shout

Howard Jones ~ Things Can Only Get Better

Madonna ~ Holiday, Like A Prayer, Like A Virgin, Dress You Up

Depeche Mode ~ Strangelove

Billy Vera & The Beaters ~ At This Moment

Manfred Mann ~ Blinded By The Light

Ambrosia ~ Biggest Part Of Me

Rupert Holmes ~ Escape (The Pina Colada Song)

Player ~ Baby Come Back

Rickie Lee Jones ~ Chuck E.'s In Love

Gerry Raferty ~ Bakers Street

Robbie Dupree ~ Steal Away

Falco ~ Rock Me Amedeus

I also listen to Hall & Oates, Chicago, and Duran Duran....hmmm

In the 80's you listened to music because it was good, not because of the race of the mucisian,,,,,
