I swear, if the media starts comparing her fashion to Lady Gaga, I will be busting skulls! Space for sale...

There is NO comparison 2 be made.

Crazier things have happened. I will never forget the idiot MTV VJ who introduced TTD's She Kissed Me There's Video as, "the next Lenny Kravitz".

Good grief! Why are all of these artists I want to see suddenly announcing tours at the same time?! Between Prince, Sade, Janet Jackson, and Bjork, among others, I'm going to go broke... Heck, with Sade alone I'd have gone broke I'm well resolved with missing her this time around. Maybe 10 years from now -- when she drops her next album -- I'll be a millionaire. Then I should be able to afford at least nosebleed seats. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Good luck on that one! You'll have to write a book and tell us how you accomplished that feat! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Bjork on Charlie Rose right before the debut of Vaspertine: http://video.google.com/v...ose+bjork#
Of note, skip to about the forty minute mark where she talks about Dancer In The Dark. The hurt in her eyes as she tries to dance around the "cruelty" of Lars Van Trier's directing style is heartbreaking. A must view. Space for sale...

I remember when that movie first came out...I was so blown away by the music in it and Bjork's performance was memorable, too... I was in college and this venarable English professor, who had been teaching since the 70s, asked the class if anyone had seen "Dancer In The Dark." I was the only one who had seen or heard of it... He thought it was a work of art and that Bjork's musical performance was one of the best he had ever seen in a movie... And then he proceeded to make comparisons between "Dancer In The Dark" and Shakespeare--as far as comparable subject matter was concerned! Y'all got me on a Bjork rarity youtube search and I come across a new song (for me) and laughed for ten minutes over this:
At the 1:44 mark, someone commented that she is saying "Throw that n-word off the train!"

Love Bjork. Honestly, I love Bjork more than Prince (I think a few people may know this already, actually). REALLY looking forward to the new album and/or tour. Shoot, even a new single would be great. But I absolutely DESPISE Dancer In The Dark. I didn't cry. I didn't marvel at the performances. I just sat there like for pretty much the entire length of the film. I sold my DVD back to Amoeba very soon after purchasing it and have no need to ever see that film again. I don't get the love for it at all. But to be honest, I don't like Von Trier's movies in general.

I really don't know how you couldn't be moved by that film...yes, it was brutal and heart-rending to me, to the point where I couldn't watch it again... But the music was wonderful! Just loved it! But not more than some of Bjork's earlier offerings... She was a real pioneer when it came to the "electronic" music sound...building off of those who came before...using signature sound effects. Just love her older stuff...period! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

The music was fine. Quite enjoyable. The movie was overbearing, forced and ocassionally pretentious. The whole thing came off like you were supposed be emotional, like it was expected. To me, it just never earned it. I don't think Bjork was that great in it, either. Which is probably a large part of why I didn't buy into the puppet master pulls on the heart strings.
I love ALL of her albums because, thus far, they've all grown on me over time. Like, I didn't really love Vespertine at first. I found it a very difficult listen. But now it contains several of my favorite Bjork songs. However, I definitely love Debut, Post and Homogenic (as well as all the singles associated with those albums) more than everything else.

^^^ Homgenic is my favorite Bjork album of all... And I do have to agree with the movie--it was very manipulative of the audience...but it was the music that moved me most of all. But Homogenic is, IMO, the best album she has ever put out thus far!

I LOOOOOVED the artwork for Homogenic. As they were released I think it will be hard for me to ever love anything more than Post and it's related singles (which actually contained a half dozen or so otherwise unreleased songs and some incredible remixes/alternate versions). However, if I could take my very favorite tracks from Homogenic and Vespertine and morph them into one album, that one would probably be my favorite.
