Damita Jo>>>>>>>>>All
I honestly do think it's better than "Discipline" and "All For You". "20 Y.O." is pretty good but Damita Jo is better.
"Just A Little While", "Strawberry Bounce", "All Nite" are some of her best dance tracks of the last 10 years. [Edited 1/15/11 13:44pm] "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

Yeah Damita Jo definitely slays the rest of her 2000's output, in my opinion. It just has that versatility and style that I dug. Check me out and add me on:

Yeah I'm not convinced either.

The All For You singles were much stronger than Damita Jo's but when you wanna talk about an album in its entirety it's the other way around.

For me, it's "Better Days", "Feels So Right", "Trust a Try", "When We Ooo", "All for You", "Truth", etc. Any way you slice it, though, All for You strikes me as by far her best of the 2000s. I wanna know who mixed it because it sounds too loud on some tracks "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

its more nostalgic because i actually had that album before Rhythm Nation.... and i was in highschool so i could relate more to the dreamstreet album cause of the innocence of the album... but i love rhythm nation... i just played Dream Street more.....

Yea, I agree. I think it depends on the tracks. I know Rodney and JD mixed their own songs. On other songs there were other mixers who also had mixing assistants.

Discipline is a billion times better than 20 Y.O., which was almost a complete train wreck. My ranking: 1. Rhythm Nation (by far) 2. Control 3. Janet. 4. The Velvet Rope 5. Janet Jackson 6. Discipline 7. Dream Street 8. All for You 9. Damita Jo 10. 20 Y.O. I quite like Dream Street. My only major concern is "Rock N Roll" didn't make the cut when it's better than 90% of the tracks that did. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

All For You has a lot of nostalgic value for me, i was in 5th grade when it came out and All For You, Someone To Call my Lover & Doesn't Matter where all over radio. It introduced me to Jackson and remind me of a simpler time in my life=]
So i do enjoy that one quite a bit Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Y'all know y'all can't have a Janet Damita Jo Jackson discussion without me . Ok, here goes...
Her best album of the '00s because it has the most amount of good songs on it--the title track, Feels So Right, the amazing Trust a Try, Someone to Call My Lover, You Ain't Right (another amazing track that should've been a single), Love Scene, China Love (a song just DYING for a proper video), When We Ooh, Better Days and Doesn't Really Matter. It also has that hilarious opening skit where she imitates Fran Drescher to a T, and one her most convincing faked (?) orgasms ever put on tape.
Her second best CD of the new millineum. It was CRIMINALLY overlooked because of the Super Bowl snafu, which is a shame because it not only has what is arguably her best dance track of the last decade (All Nite [Don't Stop]), but it also has the underrated gem Island Life. Throw in two songs about male and female oral sex (Warmth and Moist--of which Warmth is the better), the Motownish I Want You, the sexy one-two punch of Sexhibition and Strawberry Bounce, the smooth Babyface track Thinkin' 'Bout My Ex and the Europopness of SloLove, and you have an album that should have done WAY better than it did. Not to mention that most of the B-sides and outtakes from this era are much better than most of the stuff on 20 Y.O. Could This Be Love and Put Your Hands On could have easily replaced My Baby and Like You Don't Love Me on the final release.
It's kind of a toss up between these two, but I think I'd edge Discipline slightly over 20 Y.O. in that it has some hot jams on it. Rock With U, Feedback and Luv all should have done way better on radio than they did, and What's Your Name and So Much Betta are two more strong and underrated cuts. Can't B Good is definately the best ballad on Discipline. 20 Y.O. comes last to me because, although it has excellent tracks like Enjoy, Take Care, Get It Out Me (yeah, I said it, that song is HOT) and Do It To Me (which made excellent use of a Brenda Russell sample), something was just a little off. Maybe it was the fact that Jermaine Dupri's presence was a little too strong, or that Khia (vomit) dared to even appear on a Janet record.
*p.s.--I don't care what ya'll say, but Weekend was a jam, too (and yeah, it was a 20 Y.O. outtake...)

^ I would love to hear your Discipline review, I like what you said about the other albums.
My order is
All For You Discipline Damita Jo 20 YO
and yes I agree those 3 20 YO tracks you named are the hottest ones: Enjoy, Take Care and Get It Out Me

aw cute, I feel like that too cause I found the Dream Street CD by fluke at a used store back in high school as well(early 00's), and bought Rhythm Nation in the late 90's, so it does remind me of a simpler time too. I think Rhythm Nation is a much better album from start to finish with stronger songs, but the really good songs on Dream Street are strong in their own right and have that traditional Jackson sound to them with a combination of a Prince sound. Discipline was a great pop/R&B album - compare it to the female R&B artists out there today, Rhianna, Beyonce etc, it's leagues ahead.
Feedback was a great song, I also really loved Can't B Good and that soppy ballad where she sang "I wuvved you..." The name escapes me now...

That's the one. That ones a really guilty pleasure. I wouldn't be seen dead listening to it with friends, but it has a really sweet melody.

f.u.c.k. friends. Now a current partner, I understand
I like it cause it reminds me of music from the 90's produced by R.Kelly, like for Changing Faces and Sparkle. And I love the piano hook and melody in it and love randomly singing it.
My favourite line is "how do I erase my days shaded in blue, all my love's for you"

Hell no... "I wuvved you, you wuvved me" is the best line from the whole damn album! Possibly of her entire career.
