The Tavares version is more soulful and upbeat while The Bee Gees version is a beautiful ballad. Completely different takes on the song, but both versions are equally great imo.

I can't choose. I honestly love them both.

Because people love to divide and conquer, I don't listen to them just to see what's better either. lol

Oh I like them both honestly. The Tavares version is kinda like disco meets the O Jays. And The Bee Gees voices are just so distinctive.

I think it's cool that they used two versions of this song in the movie and on the soundtrack lol It gives us two different ways to enjoy it.

You need to watch THIS scene to understand why my vote goes to The Bee Gees:

That's the scene that always comes to mind when I listen to that song as well. It was a poignant moment in the movie.

Interestingly, the Bee Gees version was never released as a single, but you would have thought it was a single if you were listening to the radio back then lol Their version got just as much airplay as the singles from the album.

The Tavares version did become a single.

That's like asking you choosing between your kids...not fair! lol

Seriously, it's about mood...both versions are simply KILLER. It was great of the folks at RSO to keep both versions in the order they did. cool
