Haven't heard Kim's version yet but I loved the Supremes' remake (with Florence Ballard on lead).

Yep, loved the Florence Ballard version. Makes you wish she took the lead in most of the Supremes' catalog.

She definitely could've helped the Supremes maintain an R&B base. I think Berry just wanted them to attract simply pop audiences. But then again Florence could've helped them maintain their pop base, I think her vocals were diverse in the Supremes years.

Whoever produced her on ABC didn't know what to do with her because they couldn't "exploit the Supremes connection" as Nelson George said.
