Debbie Harry has claimed that she once had a narrow escape from serial killer Ted Bundy.

Harry says that she accepted a lift from Bundy in the early seventies, but become concerned after realizing that his car had no door handles inside.

"The hairs on the back of my neck just stood up," Harry said of her encounter.

"I pulled the door handle from the outside," she continued. "He tried to stop me by spinning the car, but it helped fling myself out."

Harry later saw Bundy on the news and realized that she had escaped from the famed sex killer. The singer didn't say where her encounter took place.

Bundy was executed in 1989 for murdering over 30 women during the 1970s.

On another note, have you heard her "Yuletide Throwdown" with Fab 5 Freddy?

It's taken from a 7" given with this magazine----> http://eil.com/shop/morei...gid=404151

I remembered this story. It's just wasn't her time to go.

That reminded me of when Rick James said that he decided not to attend that party Sharon Tate was hosting the night of her murder from the Manson family.

I'm so glad Rick and Debbie avoided that crazy scenario. Sammy Davis Jr. also was supposed to attend the Tate party but decided not to also.

In Quincy Jones autobiography, he also said he was supposed to be at the Tate house, but he had a headache and decided to stay home.

Who WAS at the Tate party? Sounds like quite the horns invite list.

Hmm didn't seem like too many, I'm thinking Tate's friends that she had made during that period were there. No one famous of course. Probably a good 7 or so I don't know. Whoever attended got killed that night.

I read somewhere those murders were sacrificial, yes to the devil. How reliable is the source, who knows.

I don't know how true that is either but I'm not surprised that theory is being brought out as to why that occurred.

Plus Tate was pregnant with Roman Polanski's (yuck) baby. So it could've been a baby shower.

Which it's actually sick and sad when you think about it. Those people didn't care for her baby that they killed her the way it did. Brutal shit.

Hmm... seems kinda strange, that these 3 claim to have been invited.. I read a book about that once... it wasn't really a party... just Tate, her hairstylist and a befriended couple, who was staying at that place for a while. And someone unrelated, who just had the bad luck visiting the property manager at that night.

Maybe they knew Tate personally. shrug

Why is that? Q was doing movie scores at the time, so came into contact with actors and directors, and Sammy was in the Rat Pack, mostly white guys.

Lord have mercy . . . there was another woman who escaped from Bundy also. In fact, Bundy had a long term girlfriend who called police when she said realized he fit the description, the police ruled him out because of his gracious manner. That was in 74, Bundy was allowed to keep killing for another 5 years. What does evil look like? Well in this country. wink

It mentions that if you want to get a glimpse or idea to what really happened, watch the movie "Rosemary's Baby". Who directed it? You've said his name. It sounds like something to think about.

Hmm, I see your point and granted, but still it seems unlikely to me... and how does Rick James fit into that picture? Like I said, it was no party, just Tate, Jay Sebring (hairstylist to the stars), Voytek Frykowski (a polish friend of Polanski, who barely spoke english) and his spouse Abigail Folger (some coffee-heir)... Davis, Jones and James just don't really fit into that group on first glance... that's all... and considering Jones' senile state...! It's not impossible, of course.

Another theory is that it just happened by mistake... that property once belonged to a music exec, who rejected Mansion's efforts as a musician... he worked with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, and as revenge Mansion ordered to kill everyone at the property, not knowing that the Polanskis moved in there... of course, it's just a theory and never got proven.

As for Rosemary's baby... I don't recall a group of people getting slaughtered in that movie.

This story has been debunked. Ms. Harry might have been the target of a serial killer but it wasn't Bundy.

And the Rick James, Sammy and Quincy Jones tales smell like BS to me, too. lol

The plot was the child was to be offered as a sacrifice to the devil in exchange for success, and no there was no slaughtering. I saw the movie many years ago. I just thought it was something to think about.

I found a transcript of Q's book, the story is on pages 197-200.

There is no connection to Rosemary's Baby and the Tate murders. The Manson clan went to that address looking for Terry Melcher, son of Doris Day, who was living their with his then girlfriend Candace Bergen. Melcher was a producer and was introduced to Manson by Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. They both stopped associating with Charles Manson after realizing what a nutter he was. Upset at being an outcase, Manson plotted his revenge by sending members of his loony family to the house, now occupied by Tate. Manson members were unaware of the new occupants but knew that Melcher no longer lived there. How sick is that? Oh, and there was no party. The friends went out to dinner and and were turning in for the evening when the Manson members showed up.

He does claim to have been invited over the house by his hairstylist (who was at the home and sadly was murdered).

Like I said... that's only a unproven theory. But if that really would have been the case, then there would have been no need for them to murder the LaBianca couple just 2 days later.

Hmm.... okay, that somewhat sounds plausible... but then again, why would the hairstylist, who was invited himself, invite some further person? But whatever... it doesn't really matter. If true, Quincy (and we) were lucky he didn't go... we probably never would have gotten Thriller... but then again, Michael maybe might still be alive! Strange, if you think about it that way.
