SONG LYRICS OR SAYINGS THAT HAVE GONE MAINSTREAM. What lyrics from either pop, R&B or rap music can you think of that became part of a national dialect? What popular sayings by an artist have found their way into everyday language?
I can think of a few:
Bobby Brown - It's my perrogative. Man people ran that into the ground but it was good to see a little known word get so much usage.
MC Hammer - You can't touch this. Another saying/lyric that people made part of their everyday language.
Ice Cube - Check yourself before you wreck yourself. One of my favs. I think I use it on old people.
Black Sheep - You can get with this or you can get with that. Hell they use it in that car commercial with the dancing hamsters.

I remember Take This Job And Shove It by Johnny Paycheck, but it's a country song though. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I think Brittney's "Toxic" is popular song that became a "saying" so to speak. I've heard people talk a lot of toxic relationships but I can't tell if the term started with her or if she just picked up on it. I will give her credit for now.

When I got my Master's back in 1999, the Governor at the time gave our Commencement address... She said: "As you all sit here... (blahblahblah)... you are gonna party like it's 1999!"

'I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one" (via Jay-Z) "Age ain't nothing but a number" (not directly inspired by song, but whenever I hear it I think about Aaliyah's song...) "That girl is Bootylicious!!" (via Destiny's Child) Everybody is somebody, but nobody wants to be themselves.

These might be a bit of a stretch, but they're all I can think of:
Still crazy after all these years
Don't worry be happy
Stevie Wonder's version of Happy Birthday
