I'm not too sure about Rick James... But Sly Stone was buddies with Doris' son Terry and they were supposed to go to the Tate house that night. Something happened with Sly and he ended up not going.

Like I said... that's only a unproven theory. But if that really would have been the case, then there would have been no need for them to murder the LaBianca couple just 2 days later.

Unproven? Members of the Manson family have confessed this. The whole point of Manson's mayhem was to insight a race war. Because Charles Manson considered the Tate murders to be so "messy", he sent the family out to find new victims.

Again, all of this is confirmed by members of the Manson family. But hey, believe what you want I guess. wink

According to a source I've read, one of the women involved in the murder stated that they were supposed to multilate the bodies, take their eyes out, and cut the baby out, but it wasn't enough time. Therefore, they fled the scene. Could it be that was Charles Manson's meaning of "messy"? It is possible. I'll admit that I agree with PatrickS77 if Manson had a score to settle with the record producer, why kill again? Could the settling a score claim or using inciting a race war claim be used as a smoke screen to what really happened. It is possible. I wonder as well the celebrities that were supposed to attend this 'party', but didn't, was that a coincidence or was they tipped off? These claims are questionable, I'll admit, especially about Roman Polanski. Was the record producer's house used as a vehicle to conceal his pact with the devil? Who knows if my own reading sources is reliable shrug Even the Beatles song 'Helter Skelter' is involved in this mess.

Actually it was several songs from the White album.

People make it sound like the Beatles recorded it for this cult or something. Stupid, the cult liked this album just like everyone else on earth minus Moonbeam.

To be honest though, I'm only a newbie fan(as you know) and the White Album is my fave from them. But the Helter Skelter/Manson association has been a long one, and to my credit I'm trying to enjoy the song while ignoring this feeling of shudder and whatever gruesome imagery that goes through my mind whenever I play it,,,,trying mind you lol

John Lennon did comment on Manson using the songs for his "theories". A lot of other people got "clues" from Beatles songs, pictures, and backwards messages to "prove" Paul McCartney died in a car wreck rumors.

True, and 'Sexy Sadie' is supposedly a song, dedicated to Susan Atkins, one of Manson's followers who killed Sharon Tate.

Debbie Harry has claimed that she once had a narrow escape from serial killer Ted Bundy.

Harry says that she accepted a lift from Bundy in the early seventies, but become concerned after realizing that his car had no door handles inside.

"The hairs on the back of my neck just stood up," Harry said of her encounter.

"I pulled the door handle from the outside," she continued. "He tried to stop me by spinning the car, but it helped fling myself out."

Harry later saw Bundy on the news and realized that she had escaped from the famed sex killer. The singer didn't say where her encounter took place.

Bundy was executed in 1989 for murdering over 30 women during the 1970s.

Don't know how true, but supposedly John Lennon met Susan Atkins a year before the incident, and they were supposed to show up in court to explain the "White Album", but it didn't happen. It was rumored for years that the Beatles were involved in the occult. Theory or fact shrug

Ok, I am not going to say it's impossible, but reading the lyrics, it appears that it was for a woman.

Lennon claimed he dubbed the Maharishi "sexy" after he hit on actress Mia Farrow at a Transcendental Meditation camp in India . Farrow's sister, Prudence, was also there, and her experience led Lennon to write "Dear Prudence." Lennon had reportedly used the Maharishi's name, but had to change it for fear of being sued.

There was an account of Mia Farrow's trip to India with the guru and the Beatles. I read it. However, why would the lyrics say something about him getting his, like revenge or bad karma coming to him, after what he did?

Lennon felt that the Beatles' ex-guru had practiced deception when he promised expanded awareness and inner happiness through meditation. He viewed him as a fraud who used religion as a means of seducing women and swindling followers' money.

Hitchhiking was fairly common before the 1980's. So was jumping on empty railroad cars.

Debbie may have been the target of a serial killer or just a random loonball, but it wasn't Bundy. Every single one of Bundy's known victims had hair that was long, brown and parted in the middle. He had a "type" that he hunted. He wouldn't have bothered with her. As minor a detail as that sounds, it's important.
