Hmm... am I too stupid? How can you read those pages? I can only find a summary for that book.

I don't know, I can see it fine. Do you have Adobe Reader?

Yeah, I do.... I only see the Google Books page though and no link to open the book.

I clicked on it and it went through and he was discussing that matter. He said had Terry Melcher not bought that house (Melcher was actually Manson's main target because Melcher wouldn't produce his album - Manson's) and had he and his then-wife, the murders wouldn't have happened.

Back to Debbie Harry and Ted Bundy, I wonder if Debbie even knew who he was.

Debbie is mistaken. A well known crime writer or either a cop-not sure which, but it was someone who was an authority and would know, says that Bundy was nowhere near where Debbie was living at the time she says she got away from him.

There is no connection to Rosemary's Baby and the Tate murders. The Manson clan went to that address looking for Terry Melcher, son of Doris Day, who was living their with his then girlfriend Candace Bergen. Melcher was a producer and was introduced to Manson by Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. They both stopped associating with Charles Manson after realizing what a nutter he was. Upset at being an outcase, Manson plotted his revenge by sending members of his loony family to the house, now occupied by Tate. Manson members were unaware of the new occupants but knew that Melcher no longer lived there. How sick is that? Oh, and there was no party. The friends went out to dinner and and were turning in for the evening when the Manson members showed up.

Like I said... that's only a unproven theory. But if that really would have been the case, then there would have been no need for them to murder the LaBianca couple just 2 days later.

Unproven? Members of the Manson family have confessed this. The whole point of Manson's mayhem was to insight a race war. Because Charles Manson considered the Tate murders to be so "messy", he sent the family out to find new victims.

Again, all of this is confirmed by members of the Manson family. But hey, believe what you want I guess. wink

Racewar? Yes, Helter Skelter and stuff... heard about that... but that the Tate murders happened because of a mixup and that Melcher was the real target is the unproven part.

I don't know how Manson was going to convince the public even at that point that black folks killed them. Have to say if they were trying to cover up, they did a bad job of it.

To my understanding, the Manson gang was heavily involved in the occult, which involved ritualistic killings.

I don't even think they cared. In their twisted sense, they thought killing "demons" was a good thing. I think they thought Manson was God because he poisoned their minds to think that way.

It must have been some sloppy occult support because none of their murders were done in a ritualistic way. I think Manson just kind of made stuff up in his head and since he was so charismatic, his drugged up dopey supporters believed him. Kind of like tea-baggers. lol

^^Yeah! They must have thought that... even though some of them had reservations (at least that's what they said afterwards) they still went ahead with the killings he ordered them to do! He must have had an amazing power over them.

His voice did sound a little off - like maybe he had a cold. And I'm rarely impressed with SNL live sound these days. The mix is usually awful. But Paul has been getting stellar reviews for doing marathon shows (sometimes more than three hours) over the last year. I thought the SNL performances were good, maybe not great, but not bad enough for me to write the guy off.

I understand it is "live" but there is something to be said about the mixing for sure, just comparing it to live performances from earlier SNL seasons I've seen.

Harlepolis

Everytime I remember the quote that one of the Manson women said to Tate before they killed her, I get enraged. Those women had it all, and threw it away for the sake of killing boredom.
