Anyone know why Glenn Lewis fell off so fast?

I really liked Lewis 's material even though he sounded a bit like Stevie Wonder.

What happened 2 this guys career?

He was due to release a second album back in '04 but the singles went nowhere. The last I heard was that he was signed to The Underdogs label but they have since broken up their production pact.

I'm noticing a pattern with usually talented artists. The label would give them a shot for the first album and then try to make the artist do a different "fast selling" approach and they put pressure on the newcomer. Plus the newcomer, if he's gifted as a writer, vocalist, musician, etc., would struggle for a year or two to put it out because they're scared the labels may shelve it and I think he just buckled under pressure.

^^Fall again (from the Maid in Manhattan soundtrack).... a song, which Michael rejected and then put as a demo on the ultimate collection, after Glenn Lewis released it... I actually prefer Glenn Lewis version!

I agree! He had a smooth voice. I can't figure out why all of these talented artists are disappearing. Why can't these guys release their music independently or at the very least on itunes or something. Music sucks now a days. But I get tired of listening to the same shit all of the time. Glen needs to bet back in the studio.

Probably why I listen more 2 my own material than ANY commercial artist.

Bingo. You are the winner of both showcases and the door price. biggrin

You don't have record labels anymore you have conglomerates, who funtion on quartley profits.

It's a waste of time to speak of once upon time but the business model no longer lends itself to developing artist and musicians. Shout out any artist of the past 50 years - Aretha Franklin ! - and none of them came out the door super stars, it takes time for them to develop on many fronts. Today conglomerates aren't willing to invest the time or money, the want an artist to come out swinging for the fences and hitting home runs with every album, if they don't it's NEXT. shrug

Mr. Lewis recorded some nice tunes but he was lil' boring and damn if I wanna listen to Stevie Wonder, I'll listen to the real thang. wink I did purchase both of his albums. Could he have developed into something special? I'm not sure.

Yeppppppp. Another comparo is Rahsaan. I hear Stevie in some of HIS songs too...but unlike Glenn & many others of that generation, Rah has consistently good & interesting material.

Maybe not fair to compare these 2, but my point is....even just a "good" singer can have a major career as long as the SONGS are there. Ain't no shame in bein "Stevie derivative" if you kick ass.

When "Don't You Forget It" first played, my first thought was "thank God Stevie is coming back." lol

I don't know but World Outside My Window was a real good cd one of

which i still listen to every now and then. I see a few talk about second

album. Did he release one after this one? I know he signed with Matthew

Knowles label at one point which i didn't think was good to begin with but

don't know what happened to him afterwards.

My opinion, is was generic. The "hand claps the boom da boom, boom da boom bass drum, as interesting as watching paint dry.

I remember him, but I am confusing him with another artist that was on Diddy's label-he did that song called "I love her but she's crazy" or something like that.
