I used to like Raheem, but after a while he just started to sound the same. I don't understand the point of having all that sex in a music video......Its a sad time for the Music indus. Their do anything to sell records.

I used to like Raheem as well, but I agree with andykeen that his music has gotten a little redundant. His newest album disappointed me severely...This music video was just softcore porn at it's finest. Oh well! smile

nod Exactly. I'm a big fan of Raheem, I love his voice but his last album was terrible. All of those interludes were unnecessary. His first album was a masterpiece in my eyes and is his "natural" sound, the 2nd album was good but not as good as the first album and to me he started to sound a bit commercial, and this last album just sounds like he's trying to hard to target a wider audience. Perhaps it could be pressure from his label...hmmm

But the song "She's Single" is pretty good, however, the video, I could do without.

WTF is Raheem DeVaughn, really?!?

And if he's suppose to be the future of the music industry, why in the hell would he risk having his own video banned from YouTube? Why not have an edit version as a back up plan?

I was done with the go get the "Magnum" part...Was that like the fifth word into the lyrics.....

I know I miss nasty Prince.....but Prince's nasty even back then was more creative lyrically than this.....

So has R&B music really come to this with the younger generation? We can't think of anything sexy to say anymore but "the 69" "the spread yo legs" "I'm such a wizard in the bed tonite"...OMFG!

Man what happen to just a great LOVE BALLAD! Am I naive to think it can still happen today? confused

...and can we discuss dem nappy ass sideburns...I'm mean really.....I wouldn't want ANY of that in between my delicate inner thigh skin.....I'm just sayin'

Warning! You may contract genital herpes if you watch the full video clip. I lost interest when he asked her to "ride it like a Ferrari". Yawn.

When he first came out he did. That first album was more neo-soulish type, but it showcased his voice and range very well. But now it seems he is heading more into the direction of...well...everybody else:-?

Well I do know one thing, this video here is not even his style, that's why I said that maybe his label is either pushing him to do this or he feels like this is the only way to get people to talk about his music. I loved the song and video for "Bulletproof" but it got slept on for some odd reason. I mean sure Mos Def stuff doesn't get played no where near as often as it should on the radio or on cable but you don't see his ass doing soft porn music videos. Just sayin'.

I didn't bother to watch the video upon hearing it was so sexual. I agree with those who think all of this type of stuff is just overboard and played out.

I can't figure out who Raheem is as an artist. I missed his first album when it originally came out and by the time I heard him- "customer" was out. I thought that was corny, and dismissed him. A while later, a friend was playing "the love experience" and I really dug it. I was very surprised it was the same Raheem I had dismissed before. I ended up getting his first album and while not great, thought it was good. Fast forward and I haven't liked anything else he has put out. It seems more in the vein of the corny "customer" that I originally judged. Im confused. I wonder if he is too, or perhaps the first album was the abberation.

Ironically on Michael Baisden's crappy show, he actually aired a Raheem song that said something about he wasn't for sale or he wasn't going to sell out...

Raheem DeVaughn Explains New X-Rated Video

Wed, Dec 01 2010 by Necole Bitchie | Filed Under: Celebrities

R&B Singer Raheem DeVaughn had some jaws dropping and tongues wagging earlier this week when he released a video for his new mixtape single “She’s Single”. He recently sat down with Vibe to discuss the new video as well as the comparisons to Keri Hilson’s new video and the double standards involved.

We see. Those sex scenes were super intense, are you sure that was just acting?

No one will ever know.

What do you say to those who think this is all a quick way to gain attention?
It’s not a moment of desperation. Technically there ain’t no records to sell. It’s a free mixtape. I paid for the video to be shot myself. It’s just another way for me to display my artistry. I’m constantly reinventing myself. It’s a constant thing that I do. No diss to any of my homies, but I pay very close attention to what people say about me. I maybe saw five negative comments out of thousands. And whats interesting is it was from dudes. But I made this for women. I made this for a woman to say that’s how I want to be loved down. And for the brothers who do ride with me I made it for them to say yeah that’s how I put it down.

Coincidentally, Keri Hilson also premiered a sexually-charged music video this week that caught people off guard. Except I think she might’ve received more flack than you.
I haven’t seen her video yet, but I’ve seen some of the comments. Someone created a blog page on just me and her. They had our pictures up like mug shots like how does this dude go from “Customer” to this? Easy. It’s art man, don’t take it so seriously. I’m a fan of Keri. Unfortunately for women though, if they decide to be promiscuous they’re going to get a bad rap. It is what it is. We all know that. But hopefully it was her decision. If she’s cool with it, I’m cool with it.

"It's art, don't take it so seriously"?! How is that art? lol Guess anyone who shoots a sex video is making art, that's probably the reason they do it. For the sake of art. lol

Now, he's got a point when he says that women get attacked more than men when they're being "promiscuous". So in order to be fair I'll add a "what the heck are you doing man?? that is cheap, tacky and whatnot, I have no interest in seeing you screw around! Go get your clothes on and create something worthwile!!!"

biggrin

Free mix tape or not, he is selling himself off of these antics. He is getting a great deal of publicity he would not get from the song alone, or a less ridiculous video. He may not be shilling the mixtape, but he is still shilling. He has albums for purchase, concerts, more albums to come etc. Its all about publicity and $.

The video was rather tame and done with taste...

youtube is pathetic, you can find tons of gore videos but you just won't find a nipple or whatever...

Dumb ass should've posted it on World Star Hip-Hop or some shit. I hate that YouTube does that though but still dumb move on Raheem's part. People will say he's getting press to sell records and he'll try to, as he's doing now, explain himself. Whatever. bored2 I can look at nudes on a good porno, no problem.

Jared Leto's stupid ass got his video banned for the same thing on fucking MTV. lol
