Yeah, the strings part is what makes it for me. That and the backing track that Mary J. Blige sampled for "You Bring Me Joy".

Yeah, but I'd like to see her around for as long as she wants to be. Like 30 years if she can keep it up.

MJB sampled this for "You Bring Me Joy." That's one of the reason's I loved that song!

Barry White is the Maestro of Love, yo! biggrin

I thought it would be fitting to re-vive this thread.I've been listening to Barry White's music all weekend and this song is one of my favorites.I love how it starts out with a long,hypnotic,string-laden intrumental segment. Then Barry starts singing and the whole thing takes off.In 1977,this song was HUGE.

Lisa Stanfield lists Barry White as her main musical influence and you can hear his "sound" in her songs. Her first hit "All Around The World"(1990) sounds like an old Barry White song updated for the 90s.She even covered one of his songs---"Never Never Gonna Give You Up"---and the two of them recorded a duet of her signature hit,the aforementioned "All Around The World".She also sang a duet with him on his last album,'Staying Power'.

"I have a musical crush on Barry White",she said.
