Rihanna Smashes Billboard Number-Ones Record As it turns out, Rihanna really is the only girl (in the world)—to have achieved seven Number 1 songs on the Billboard pop chart. The "Umbrella" singer's latest single, "Only Girl (in the World)" will take the top slot in Billboard's December 4, 2010 chart, making for the seventh song featuring her to reach the Number 1 position, setting a new record in the chart's 18-year history. With this latest Number 1 single, Ri-RI surpasses Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Lady Gaga, each of whom have placed six songs in the Number One position. Rihanna's previous Number 1 songs on Billboard's pop chart are "SOS," "Take a Bow," "Disturbia," "Live Your Life," "Rude Boy" and her collaboration with Eminem, "Love the Way You Lie." The singer's latest album Loud, meanwhile, which was released on November 16, is expected to debut in the Top 10 of Billboard's next Hot 100 chart. Have you bought Loud yet? What do you think of it?

p.s. no offense but if La Reid could spend millions on Rihanna's promotion he could pay for a good vocal coach to improve her live performances

When I used to be interested in and kept up with the charts, I remember that Whitney Houston had seven #1's in a row. So how is this setting a record? You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The only reason this happened is because they've been pushing that 99 cent price lol

The Billboard hot 100 is older than 18 years and other women have topped the chart more than seven times. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

the number of splinter charts is endless and the only one that means anything to anyone other than program directors at radio stations is the Hot 100

I understand, however when one speak of the pop charts i think (Hot 100)

just the fact that there is a new age chart a fucking Smooth Jazz chart, a modern rb chart, a chart for songs when the moon is full and its raining chart, give me a break, how about just go with RB Dance HOT 100 Top 200 albums Rock Country and Jazz and call it a day, Billboard could be trimmed down from 83 charts to 5 or 6. Well you know, included in "the contract" is guaranteed chart success, catchy tunes, a modeling contract with a major makeup company, commercials, a clothing line, a "vanity" movie or two, the covers of several major publications and of course, a top 10 spot on several "most beautiful people lists. It would sound like bullshit if every major pop star didn't actually get those things.[img:$uid]http://emoticons4u.com/evil/teu42.gif[/img:$uid] [Edited 11/24/10 10:08am]
