Nicki vs. Kanye 400k+?

KANYE AND NICKI BATTLE: Kanye West’s critically acclaimed Roc-A-Fella/IDJ album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and touted newcomer Nicki Minaj’s long-awaited Cash Money/Universal Motown debut, Pink Friday, both hit the street today and should duke it out for #1 on the HITS chart a week from tomorrow, with totals that could have a “4” in front of it. Stay tuned as these two R&B giants go for the roses. (11/22p)

Number of records sold nowadays is more of a credit to marketing than it is to music or the people that make it.

^^ I think there are some white people who just screw black artists up and think there all the same. I've seen articles with Usher, Chris Brown, R.Kelly etc referred to as Rapper Usher, Rapper Chris Brown, Rapper R.Kelly and now Kanye & Nicki are apparently singers.

It's been like that forever. I even saw a few label Aretha or Etta or Chuck "blues legends" when two of them are really "soul legends" and Chuck's all "rock and roll" though all of them have done blues. And just because Kanye and Nicki "sing" on some tracks don't make them "singers".

Exactly. And Michael Jackson's older brother Randy is another constant SMH. I've seen that mess so many times. Like people get your shit together. LMAO.

GO WEST: Looks like Kanye West and Nicki Minaj will go 1-2 on next week’s HITS album chart. West’s much-acclaimed Roc-A-Fella/IDJ release My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy hit the streets yesterday and looks now like it will break 500k. Meanwhile, Susan Boyle’s The Gift keeps on giving. This week, the Columbia album will repeat at #1, down only about 10-15% from last week’s total of 321k. With Black Friday looming, though, these numbers could all change, so stay tuned. (11/23p)

If Susan's sales hold up, Minaj will have to stick with being #3. Not shocked that Kanye's album will do that much.

A #1 debut for Minaj would have been a good look but I always knew in the back of my head she was never gonna beat Kanye. And he deserves it. It's a great great album.

I agree. Probably releasing it on the same day of Kanye's was not a good idea.

According to HitsDailyDouble, Kanye West’s critically acclaimed album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, will top Nicki Minaj’s much-anticipated debut CD, Pink Friday, on the charts next week.

West’s ‘Fantasy’ is expected to push over 500K units, while Nicki’s sales will hover around the 150K mark.

The buzz surrounding West’s 5th studio album reached a fever pitch when Rolling Stone magazine gave ‘Fantasy’ the equivalent of The Source magazine’s 5 mics in its review.

It's a good excuse too if it wasn't destined to be #1, but also says enough that it was decided to compete on the same day.

There's a bunch of artists who will be waiting to put their albums out in 2011 because they simply cannot compete in the fourth quarter push.

Kanye kills everytime, they better research. All people of all colors love Kanye. Female rappers today have a limited audience not too unlike ten years ago, but they also had the non digital age to their advantage.

With all the hype around Nicki they messed up bad...they failed to put the album out when Your Love was released, and now that is an old single..her current two releases are in the top twenty but are now falling off. Maybe they should have waited with that release.

True, I was looking for that album when "Your Love" was brand new. It's not exactly old yet Ike.. I guess that song with Will.I.Am is out now, with the "Video Killed The Radio Star" samp.

Her people obviously wanted to take advantage of Black Friday. It was basically now or never. The holiday season is when sales spike. If she released it in January she wouldn't have been seeing the same numbers.

They did the right thing.

I know; but that's old now. She did that on the BET Awards and that was in early October.

Your Love is about old...I'm suprised it's not on Now Thats What I Call Music 76 smile. They don't play it on the radio anymore really at least here in Minneaperlis.

Maybe it's just me that is not going for the Kanye hype, that "short film" he came out with made me see he is trying to be different and not just letting it flow. I use to like his old stuff, but it seems to me several people are trying to be creative IMO

Hopefully he will, dude is more talented than this bitch and even though I don't like the album, "Crazy Love" and "Cause I Said So" are the cuts !

For some reason I don't think Ne-Yo's overall numbers are going to be too hot. To me it seems as if he's lost some of his momentum. He shouldn't sweat it though, he can always write hits and get paid. I just don't hear many people anticipating dude's stuff. Maybe if he was telling a girl to, "do it with no hands" he'd have greater buzz. idk confused
