What I'm thinking this tour will be (since it's "world tour"), is select any country as opposed to state. Notice she says city so it could be London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Los Angeles, etc. Something like that.

Didn't she say she was performing songs off her #1's album? lol Looks like our choices are limited.

sorry you guys, but I don't know if this is a good idea. I got so excited when I read the topic, but then I remembered the vertigo issues and thought about how michael pushed himself too despite health issues leading to today :*( And murray's trial will be next year...I really have a feeling she's trying to run away from her pain of losing michael :*( she's been so busy since despite not having a real album out and using her work to run away from it. People I know that aren't her fan but love michael have a gut feeling that she is going to get depression again, that's what I heard last year :*(

You know this might not be the brightest idea at this point in her career but I think it will do better than her RWU tour. The vertigo issue was just some bullshit she stirred which she always does when no one's buying her tickets. I wonder what she will come up with this time around lol but I doubt she's "trying to run away from the pain". Janet's just trying to keep her ass busy because she really has no life outside of her job. I think this tour will do fine if she sticks to smaller venues and major cities. There's no point for her to go to cities like Tulsa or some other irrelevant city lol

I think it's a great idea because at this point in her career, it's what people want to hear from her. She should have mounted a greatest hits tour back in 2006 instead of releasing 20 Y.O. She really lost her touring base when she cancelled the European leg of All For You and then didn't support Damita Jo with a tour.

Janet has undergone a bit of a mainstream resurgence with her recent performances and successful film roles. If they can promote this effectively, I think it could be quite successful. The key is effective promotion, which Rock Witchu didn't have.

She also seems in a much better place mentally and physically now than she was during Rock Witchu - and her image has been significantly rehabilitated since Michael's death - so I don't think she'll have trouble on that front. Moreover, she has cleary been making efforts to re-engage her touring base through high-profile performance gigs (AMA's, Essence Music Festival, American Idol) over the past year, and I think she will continue to do so to earn more exposure and promote the tour. She needs to make people remember why they should pay to see her live.

Also, it sounds like they are making the effort to assess demand before tickets go on sale by having the "you decide the cities" contest. Smart.

does anyone believe that there is the slightest chance that she will even come close to getting through all 35 cities before she comes up with some bullshit illness and cancels half the dates on the tour?

Sure. I think she set herself up for failure with Rock Witchu and was clearly in a bad place mentally and physically. Things have changed since Michael died - she has gotten rid of the troll, she's working on more projects and she seems genuinely happy to be doing what she's doing. If she and her team are invested in promotion and effective market research, this could be a very successful tour.

this problem didn't start on that last tour.

It's her only tour to experience significant issues. She was stupid to cancel the European leg of All For You, true, but The Velvet Rope had one cancellation of 120 shows.

I think she's slowly planning a successful comeback. I see what she's doing...starting with the films, then with the book, now with this tour. I'm sure she'll do real well this time around. She was going through some SHIT between 2004 and 2009.

Idk. We'll see. I still think she should've waited to tour after releasing a new album. I mean, how long is she going to milk her 80's hits? It's getting quite tired. Unless she completely revamps the sound of her classics and the way she performs them it might do well but at this point people are tired of Janet performing everything from the 80's till early 00's.

It's only going to be successful if she puts in the effort. She's barely been present in her own career for a decade now.

Eh no. rolleyes The RN tour was a successful tour. She had a few health problems but no ticket issues. The same with the janet tour which did very well.
