I have this one:

iPod classic

The iPod classic is a hard drive-based iPod (80 GB or 160 GB) featuring a large, widescreen color display, a Click Wheel, and the capability of displaying photos and videos. Like other models, it uses USB for syncing. The iPod classic is available in silver and black, and has an anodized aluminum and polished stainless steel enclosure.

You can distinguish the iPod classic from the iPod (5th generation) by the last three digits of the serial number. The iPod classic serial number's last three digits will be one of the following: Y5N, YMU, YMV, and YMX.

I have used these ones:

iPod shuffle
iPod shuffle is smaller than iPod mini and has no display. There are LED lights on the front and back. The capacity of the drive is engraved on the front USB connector.

iPod mini (2nd generation)

The iPod mini (2nd generation) models are distinguished from the original iPod mini models by:

  • Hard drive size engraved on back of unit.

  • Click Wheel text color matches iPod mini (2nd generation) color
  • Click here for more differences.

I also had a nano but I didn't use it.

I got one of these last xmas, bought decent headphones. Got about 110gb's of music and podcasts loaded onto it. It's made my commutes quite pleasurable, though to be honest I was content with my 1g mp3 player.

My first one was the iPod "Video" bought in 2006-2007. A couple of years ago I bought the 160GB Classic - still unbeatable. You have your whole music library in your pocket, anywhere, anytime, and you don't have to buy some bulky Archos to do it.

And mine isn't even full yet. I've got about 16,000 songs = 120GB. wink

Oh, you have to checkout Line2 ( cool ) for your iPhone/iPod Touch, for 9 buck and some change a month, make Wifi calls and use Line 2 as a second line for your iPhone or turn you iPod Touch into a phone. Touch 2G & 3G you'll need headphones/speaker deal. Plus, you get voicemail, you can text message, and even if your phone or touch isn't on your voicemail will save all calls to your iPhone/Touch and send it to your email account.

I bought a 160 gb Classic when it looked like the most Apple offered was 120 gb, but then they brought the 160 back in the last year or so.

40GB iPod 3rd Generation

512MB iPod Shuffle 1st Generation

120GB iPod Classic

2GB iPod Shuffle 4th Generation

I don't use the older 2 iPods, but I still have them. I get the most use out of my Classic, especially considering it has my entire music collection AND full-resolution photo collection on it (as backup to my computer and as portable picture-viewer).

Shuffles are for workouts.

My 120GB Classic is for the music. My 32GB Ipod Touch is strictly for audiobooks & podcasts nod
