I'm sorry, but no! I mean, if people like it, great. But for me it's a big giant no! The thought of Rob Thomas singing Original Sin make my skin crawl. That's the song that first got me interested in INXS and I have no desire to hear that douche sing it. In general I think it sucks that these guys can't seem to find a way to continue in the business, because they deserve it. They're a GREAT band! But there are MANY great bands who would have had ZERO success if not for their charismatic front man or woman. Personally, I'm just going to stick with remembering them how brilliant they were with Michael.

Side note: did anybody check out Beck's Record Club performance of Kick? (It's all on YouTube) I couldn't stand most of that, either. Never Tear Us Apart was tolerable, but only BARELY.

I was like you, cus I love Hutch. He is in my top 10 favorite vocalists of all time. However, I enjoyed the album "Switch" - Not nearly as much as "Kick" "X" or "Elegantly Wasted" but - I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed their 2003 single, "I Get Up" with another singer. The fact is like you said - they are great and they are great together. No singer will ever replace Hutch but at least with every project they've done to date..it has been in Michael's honor. The album "Switch" had 2 songs dedicated to the man, and this new project is a tribute to him. Watch the videos on the website and every singer singing these songs (more or less) talks about how Michael's performance inspired them on theirs. That is enough for me. I'm behind this project and very excited.

I wish Hutch had left us more from his solo album or more Max Q out-takes.

His voice was one of the best, but, I'll take what I can get from Andrew and the

rest of INXS. Still a great band.

Original Sin sounds awesome with Rob and I'm a Hutch fan to the core. HOWEVER......JD (who I really do like) RUINED everything that makes The Stairs a great song. I will get the cd but I will avoid that track at all costs.

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

Me neither, and I can't stand his formulaic shitty songs. Bland to the core.

Been a fan from the get-go, and though i fought the whole JD thing in the beginning i was praying that they got him back and they have been using him to record a new record for 2011. With this i havent heard anything but the Ben Harper Version, and i hated it, and still do, and its not because the original etc....its because he just does a poor job vocally, def out of his league on it.

Well just got my hands on a link for the CD till it gets a release here, And most of it is excellent, Rob Thomas i can take or leave, i do understand why they got him though, since he like John Mayer, has that RB pass, well at least John had it, but ROB has love from many races, and when INXS did that song (original sin) the themes being sung about were "not" being sung about. JD's version of the "Stairs" is a great closer, since it is almost definite barring another meltdown that he is the lead singer once again. Nikka Costa is so-so im not crazy about her, but the Inxs members "drum opera" and "Dont Change" SHOW once again that before Michael and after INXS were/are a band not a one man show.

Thank you to xperience319 for helping me find the album. biggrin

My thoughts are:

"Mediate," "Original Sin," and "The Stairs" are FANTASTIC

remade songs. I don't care much for the new versions of

"Kick," and "New Sensation." Those songs are intended to get

people moving, and both these dragging versions just make me

miss Michael Hutchence and the original songs THAT much more.

"Never Tear Us Apart" sounds downright dreadful. They

shoulda got Jon Stevens (INXS frontman in 2003) to record this instead.

Ben Harper made that song horrible. The song "Just Keep Walking"

is the song that comes the most close to that trademark INXS sound.

(I love it.)

The release is a mixed bag but at the

end of the day, the stand out tracks are great and I'm glad to hear JD

back with INXS. Hopefully we will get a full album with JD next time around.

I didn't want to like him, but hearing "Switch" - "The Stairs" and seeing him

live with the boys forced me to like him. He fits.

Oh and the remade slowed down versions of "Don't Change" and

"Never Tear Us Apart" work really well. Make you marvel at how long

the band has been around, and how long Hutch has been gone.

Good album..worth the listen.

Yeah glad we basically totally agree on this record, its worth it, and has quite a few surprises. "The Stairs" is freaking amazing, i always thought that song was never appreciated as a single, and it came at a time when INXS's popularity was sliding, grunge was coming in, U2 were stealing their shine etc..JD is perfect for this band, and hope it all works for them, because it would be a shame if he wasnt in this band, it would've been really kick ass if JD did "By My side" another song he fucking rocks vocally. The slowed "Dont Change" with Kirk Pengilly and that Sax Solo, are just amazing, who has sax solo's still in Rock? Inxs always did!

And glad to see that im not alone on the Ben Harper thing, i mean when i first said it people were like OMG Ben harper how can u say that about him, and it wasnt anything personal against him, he just shouldnt be doing that song.

Props to INXS for doing this record with many non-commecial artists, they could have done "need U Tonight" the Lil Wayne mix but they chose to go the proper route, much like they did when they waited 8 years after Michael's death before even entering a studio as a band, I dont think the average person realizes how hard they took his death, it wasnt just a fellow band member lost, it was a brother.

Ur welcome, imo standout tracks are:

mediate - tricky (this is crazy good!!)

just keep walking - dan sultan

Mystify - loane (digging the french vocals, very relaxing)

To look at you - kav temperley (bias as its just one of my fave tracks anyway, this is a great re-imagining)

kick - nikka costa (relaxing spin and it works imo)

love is what i say - JD
