Saying all that I think the Bria Valente album is crap. The McDonalds of music. Plenty of thought put into it, lots of promotion (sort of), high quality production values but with the final result being no more than junk. But at least McDonalds never pretended to be รก la carte.
Of the musicians or the posters? If you need to ask there's not much point in me giving any examples. Have you not read through the lists?
Blackbob asked for reasons BUT he did state for people to post how they THOUGHT. This is where it slips up really. I understand the brilliance of REM for example but they just don't float my boat. Carlos Santana is another. On no accounts would I say they were crap although I'd rather listen to silence.
With this in mind I feel people are stating bands they dislike and think are crap as opposed to being more critical and putting some intelligence and maturity behind their statements as support. Hence my reference to the teenage outlet that is NME.
I'm sure my list was one to earn your scorn.
In any case, I've gone on about the reasons for my disdain for these acts many times before. Sometimes, a quick bullet list is a refreshing break from more elaborate rants.

I do like some of her first hald of the 90s singles: Vision of Love, Dreamlover, etc. but overall her albums are insanely uneven, and of course her 00s material is "beyawful" (beyond awful)

I only listed artists I truly hate- like every song. If I got into artists where I actually thought some of the songs were ok, Mariah would be one of thousands to be added.
Show me 1 good Kenny Rogers song, and i'll show you a three headed unicorn. Seriously, if there are any good ones out there, i've yet to hear them.

Ok, of the two examples given, Dolly P rescues the first one...just. Lady was a song i heard multiple times during my childhood as my dad spun that record more than once. Made me wanna swing from the rafters. Id dig out his fleetwood Mac albums and hide the Kenny Rogers. Thats not to say i dislike all country, Gillian Welch for example is great, as is Cat Power.

Ok then, well i guess it basically comes down to everyones interpretation of the word "crap". If millions of people like a particular artist and you despise them with reason does that make them "crap", in my eyes it does. As a poster alluded to earlier, to mention the glaringly obvious artists such as "Bria Valente" or "Aqua" for example, they go without saying(although i am sure some people out there would argue otherwise) At least with dropping a few more popular names in there it makes for more interesting discussion. I think REM are pretty mediocre myself, and most of their albums i would consider crap with the exception of AFTP and maybe Monster. As Moonbeam said, sometimes a clean bullet list is fine too. Music doesn't have to be broken down all the time.
well what i meant by ..acts you think are crap was acts you think have no real artistic merit....there are major acts like bob dylan...now i can understand bob's appeal and his impact and the great songs he has wrote but i find it difficult to listen to him because i dont like his voice and the folky style isnt really my thing....so i dont listen much to bob dylan but i would never call him crap....he has genuine artistic merit...

i would add acts like the rolling stones...the who...elvis...major acts that dont really do much for me but have artistic merit to them
