"Never Had A Love Like This Before" by Tavares
I recently got back into this song back in April when I moved into my current place and was unpacking. I had on KIXIE 107 FM and I was unpacking with the radio on. Their format during the week is soft soul which is usually slow songs from the late 1980s up until today, in other words....Shitney, Anita, Freddie, etc.
Anyway, on Saturdays from around 10 a.m. until around 4 p.m., they have Don Jennings on and he gets on down with not only the slow jams, but the bad ass funk and disco jams of the 1970s and 1980s. I really enjoy the Saturday afternoon jams he plays and I consider him the baddest DJ in radio these days because obviously they must let him play what he wants to play.
Anyway, he played this one and I had totally forgotten about it until he played it and have jammin' to it ever since. Well hell, isn't that what a good DJ (which is rare these days) is supposed to do?
Thanks Don. Andy is a four letter word.

My fave song by them, I posted about it last year I think and I was surprised that people are familiar with it.
I still need to buy "Madame Butterfly" though, I'm hearing so many good things about that album.

It's a superb album. In addition to "Never Had A Love Like This Before",the album also contains gems like "One Telephone Call Away","I'm Back For More" and the smooth title track.I highly recommend it.

I LOVE this song. I remember searching for it a few years ago. I don't know why I didn't know it was Tavares at the time. I just kept googling the lyrics until I found the right song. This one gets repeated play. Great voices, great harmonies, great lyrics, great musicianship, just GREAT! perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Good tune.
The title cut is even better imo. When all else fails, blame Obama...and McNabb!

the title track should have been the second single from this album

For this album, they were trying to get away from disco and return to soulful R&B.The previous couple of albums were produced by Freddie Perren but for this album they recruited L.T.D's producer. When you think about it,making this type of swich at the height of the disco era was a bold move.
