Am I crazy or does this RHCP song sound like Prince's I Love U in Me? I've been listenign to the B-sides a bit lately and one time I Love U in Me came on and I had this deja vu feeling that it reminded me of another song. I carried it around with me for a few days till it occurred to me:
To my ears, the Chilli Peppers song Soul to Squerze (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOGBIxuc0y8) has a vocal melody with some strong similarities to I Love u in Me
Does any one else hear this? "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

Can't say that I do, but I'm not going to call you crazy. [Edited 12/28/10 12:20pm]

LOL, not in the least. They aren't even remotely similar.

I think some notes are very similar...like the end of each phrase, but the melody (as a whole) is not the same, nor the rest of the song. So you're not crazy, but i highly doubt RHCP intentionally ripped off Prince. Its purely a coincidence, nothing more. I agree- didn't even suggest it. It really is those notes at the end of each phrase, but the pace and delivery (not the instruments) probably help...
