New Vh1 Diva's Live 2010 Lineup

lol lol lol lol lol What a joke!!!

http://hellobeautiful.com...divas-wtf/

The line-up for VH1’s “Divas” 2010 was announced today.

And though we love Keri Hilson (and can see the potential in Nicki Minaj), we’re not so sure the two ladies should be headlining such an event.

VH1 caught a lot of flack last year for it’s line-up. After all, “Divas” had been on hiatus since 2005, so VH1 had had plenty of time to prep and plan for an amazing comeback.

Instead, it returned in 2009 with a line-up full of “American Idol” contestants. Miley Cyrus, Kelly Clarkson, Jordin Sparks, Leona Lewis, Jennifer Hudson and Adele took the stage.

Now, the issue wasn’t that these ladies couldn’t sing – because, surely, they can – the issue was that it seemed the original intent and vision of VH1 “Divas” had been lost.

When VH1 first introduced the show in 1998, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan and Shania Twain performed. These were women that had earned their right, in their respective genres, to be named a diva.

VH1 “Divas” held it’s standards high for the following years: in 1999, we saw Whitney, Tina, and Cher – women who, to this day, need no last name.

In 2000, Mariah returned with Donna Summer. In 2001, the three “Queens” came – of Soul, of Hip-Hop and of Salsa, it was Aretha, Mary J., and Celia Cruz.

Then there was trouble. From 2002 to 2003, we saw Cher, Celine and Whitney – AGAIN! And we saw Mary TWICE more.

Thankfully, Beyonce, Patti, Chaka, and Gladys Knight came through to break up the monotony, but it wasn’t enough to keep “Divas” going. They took a break in 2005 until the infamous 2009 show mentioned above.

The 2010 show seems worst than the last: Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, Nicki Minaj, country group Sugarland, and alternative-rock band Paramore will be headlining the event, airing December 5.

VH1’s own website says that “‘Divas’ brings together music’s most powerful women and greatest performers live on one stage.” Maybe they need to re-read their mission statement.

The first 3 were enough. Either recycle the same original Divas or call it a retirement.

So, what else is new?

VH1 doesn't give a damn about you, they want the kids and their short attention span. Always have been.

The 2009 line-up was f***ed up even then when they included Miley. rolleyes She can NOT sing well enough to be a "diva".

Exactly. ViaCON's Very Hellbound Ones (VH1) are too busy promoting that universal mind control of today youth.

VH1 is a total fail, it never keeps what is good it just goes with what will sell and draw in some ratings. Katy Perry well i dig her but she is far from a friggin diva, maybe if this was the VH1 comedy awards Katy would fit, Keri Hilson has a horrible live voice, she is stronger on record but this is a show not a record,Nicki Minaj is a joke and shouldnt be able to even watch the show let alone be on it, my guess is she is going to be jumping on everyones tracks just like she does now. Sugarland i cant really knock them because i cant form an opinion, since all i really know is that the chick did some stuff with Jon Bon Jovi, but she didnt strike me as a diva like vocalist at all, as for Paramore, it just really looked like VH1 wanted someone in each genre, country, rock, rap, pop and then RB, nice mixed bag and idea, but drop the name of the show since no one fits, just call it the VH1 mixed bag LIVE.

Since VH1 is barely a music channel anymore, they should go back to the old school and make Divas a VH1 Classic Event (maybe air it the first time on VH1 but mostly promote it using the VH1 Classic name). That line up has NO DIVAS!
