2010 American Music Awards Nominees

The full list of nominees for the 2010 American Music Awards were announced Tuesday (October 12) in Los Angeles, and, much like he's done for most of the year, Eminem stands head and shoulders above the rest.
Em is up for five awards at the 2010 AMAs, tied with country juggernauts Lady Antebellum for the most of any artist. Justin Bieber scored four nods, while B.o.B, Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Usher are each up for three. Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, Rihanna and Drake are also nominated in various categories.
Eminem is nominated in both the Favorite Male Artist - Pop or Rock (up against Bieber and Usher) and Hip-Hop categories and Artist of the Year (where he'll face off against Gaga, Perry, Bieber and Ke$ha). His massively successful Recovery disc is also up for Favorite Album - Rap or Hip-Hop. Bieber's four nods are for Favorite Male - Pop or Rock, Artist of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year. My World 2.0 is also in the running for Album of the Year - Pop or Rock.
AMA nominees are selected from BigChampagne's Ultimate Chart, which ranks the most popular artists and songs based on a weighted combination of music sales, radio and TV broadcast, Internet streaming and video viewing and "additional online metrics," including social-media activity.
Winners will be determined by online voting, at AMAVote.com; voting is now under way in all categories.
The 38th annual AMAs will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in L.A. on Sunday, November 21, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Someone clearly hasn't read Sade's bio. Sade is a band who's lead singer is Sade Adu. To me this is like putting No Doubt in the Favorite Female Artist category. Always seems to diminish the role of the other members of the band -- Sade would not be Sade without Matthewman, Hale and Denman. Soapbox aside... I'd be very surprise if Sade won an award like this in 2010. | |

why is this show allowed to function still?? Im feeling it should, because the Grammies is always trying to get ratings and draw the kids in so i thinks being all hip is the way, NOT! The grammies should not be ashamed to give an award to the best album and not the best selling album because it gets ratings, or they think it does, kids to watch these shows, they never did. I'll probably won't watch. Which is a major accomplishment for me. I grew up watching award shows like clockwork. Just glancing at these nods gave me no incentive at all to tune in. For years I'd watch these type of shows and like a jilted lover, feel used and abused for my time wasted at the end of the night. Not this year!
Besides the AMA's are the worst for artistic merit. "Favorite" this or that = "Most Popular", "Most Sold Crap" of the Year! YAY! Give me a break. At least back in the day, those nominated deserved to be there.
